“สตฺตหิ, ภิกฺขเว, ธมฺเมหิ สมนฺนาคโต สาริปุตฺโต จตโสฺส ปฏิสมฺภิทา สยํ อภิญฺญา สจฺฉิกตฺวา อุปสมฺปชฺช วิหรติฯ กตเมหิ สตฺตหิ?
“Bhikkhus, having seven qualities, Sāriputta realized the four kinds of textual analysis and lives having achieved them with his own insight. What seven?
อิธ, ภิกฺขเว, สาริปุตฺโต ‘อิทํ เม เจตโส ลีนตฺตนฺ'ติ ยถาภูตํ ปชานาติ;
It’s when Sāriputta truly understood: ‘This is mental sluggishness’.
อชฺฌตฺตํ สงฺขิตฺตํ วา จิตฺตํ ‘อชฺฌตฺตํ เม สงฺขิตฺตํ จิตฺตนฺ'ติ ยถาภูตํ ปชานาติ;
He truly understood internally constricted mind as ‘internally constricted mind’.
พหิทฺธา วิกฺขิตฺตํ วา จิตฺตํ ‘พหิทฺธา เม วิกฺขิตฺตํ จิตฺตนฺ'ติ ยถาภูตํ ปชานาติ;
He truly understood externally scattered mind as ‘externally scattered mind’.
ตสฺส วิทิตา เวทนา อุปฺปชฺชนฺติ, วิทิตา อุปฏฺฐหนฺติ, วิทิตา อพฺภตฺถํ คจฺฉนฺติ; วิทิตา สญฺญา …เป… วิตกฺกา อุปฺปชฺชนฺติ, วิทิตา อุปฏฺฐหนฺติ, วิทิตา อพฺภตฺถํ คจฺฉนฺติ;
He knew feelings, perceptions, and thoughts as they arose, as they remained, and as they went away.
สปฺปายาสปฺปาเยสุ โข ปนสฺส ธมฺเมสุ หีนปฺปณีเตสุ กณฺหสุกฺกสปฺปฏิภาเคสุ นิมิตฺตํ สุคฺคหิตํ สุมนสิกตํ สูปธาริตํ สุปฺปฏิวิทฺธํ ปญฺญายฯ
The patterns of qualities—suitable or unsuitable, inferior or superior, or those on the side of dark or bright—were properly grasped, focused on, borne in mind, and comprehended with wisdom.
อิเมหิ โข, ภิกฺขเว, สตฺตหิ ธมฺเมหิ สมนฺนาคโต สาริปุตฺโต จตโสฺส ปฏิสมฺภิทา สยํ อภิญฺญา สจฺฉิกตฺวา อุปสมฺปชฺช วิหรตี”ติฯ
Having these seven qualities, Sāriputta realized the four kinds of textual analysis and lives having achieved them with his own insight.”
