ရုက္ခသုတ္တ
Trees
“စတ္တာရောမေ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ရုက္ခာ၊ ကတမေ စတ္တာရော?
“Bhikkhus, there are these four kinds of tree. What four?
ဖေဂ္ဂု ဖေဂ္ဂုပရိဝါရော,
One is a softwood surrounded by softwoods,
ဖေဂ္ဂု သာရပရိဝါရော,
one is a softwood surrounded by hardwoods,
သာရော ဖေဂ္ဂုပရိဝါရော,
one is a hardwood surrounded by softwoods, and
သာရော သာရပရိဝါရော—
one is a hardwood surrounded by hardwoods.
ဣမေ ခေါ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, စတ္တာရော ရုက္ခာ၊ ဧဝမေဝံ ခေါ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, စတ္တာရော ရုက္ခူပမာ ပုဂ္ဂလာ သန္တော သံဝိဇ္ဇမာနာ လောကသ္မိံ၊ ကတမေ စတ္တာရော?
These are the four kinds of tree. In the same way, these four people similar to trees are found in the world. What four?
ဖေဂ္ဂု ဖေဂ္ဂုပရိဝါရော,
One is a softwood surrounded by softwoods,
ဖေဂ္ဂု သာရပရိဝါရော,
one is a softwood surrounded by hardwoods,
သာရော ဖေဂ္ဂုပရိဝါရော,
one is a hardwood surrounded by softwoods, and
သာရော သာရပရိဝါရော၊
one is a hardwood surrounded by hardwoods.
ကထဉ္စ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ပုဂ္ဂလော ဖေဂ္ဂု ဟောတိ ဖေဂ္ဂုပရိဝါရော? ဣဓ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဧကစ္စော ပုဂ္ဂလော ဒုဿီလော ဟောတိ ပါပဓမ္မော; ပရိသာပိဿ ဟောတိ ဒုဿီလာ ပါပဓမ္မာ၊ ဧဝံ ခေါ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ပုဂ္ဂလော ဖေဂ္ဂု ဟောတိ ဖေဂ္ဂုပရိဝါရော၊ သေယျထာပိ သော, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ရုက္ခော ဖေဂ္ဂု ဖေဂ္ဂုပရိဝါရော; တထူပမာဟံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဣမံ ပုဂ္ဂလံ ဝဒါမိ၊
And how is a person a softwood surrounded by softwoods? It’s when a person is unethical, of bad character, and their followers are the same. That’s how a person is a softwood surrounded by softwoods. That person is like a softwood tree that’s surrounded by softwoods, I say.
ကထဉ္စ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ပုဂ္ဂလော ဖေဂ္ဂု ဟောတိ သာရပရိဝါရော? ဣဓ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဧကစ္စော ပုဂ္ဂလော ဒုဿီလော ဟောတိ ပါပဓမ္မော; ပရိသာ စ ခွဿ ဟောတိ သီလဝတီ ကလျာဏဓမ္မာ၊ ဧဝံ ခေါ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ပုဂ္ဂလော ဖေဂ္ဂု ဟောတိ သာရပရိဝါရော၊ သေယျထာပိ သော, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ရုက္ခော ဖေဂ္ဂု သာရပရိဝါရော; တထူပမာဟံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဣမံ ပုဂ္ဂလံ ဝဒါမိ၊
And how is a person a softwood surrounded by hardwoods? It’s when a person is unethical, of bad character, but their followers are ethical, of good character. …
