“စတ္တာရောမေ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ကုမ္ဘာ၊ ကတမေ စတ္တာရော?
“Bhikkhus, there are these four pots. What four?
တုစ္ဆော ပိဟိတော,
Covered but hollow,
ပူရော ဝိဝဋော,
uncovered but full,
တုစ္ဆော ဝိဝဋော,
uncovered and hollow, and
ပူရော ပိဟိတော—
covered and full.
ဣမေ ခေါ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, စတ္တာရော ကုမ္ဘာ၊ ဧဝမေဝံ ခေါ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, စတ္တာရော ကုမ္ဘူပမာ ပုဂ္ဂလာ သန္တော သံဝိဇ္ဇမာနာ လောကသ္မိံ၊ ကတမေ စတ္တာရော?
These are the four pots. In the same way, these four people similar to pots are found in the world. What four?
တုစ္ဆော ပိဟိတော,
Covered but hollow,
ပူရော ဝိဝဋော,
uncovered but full,
တုစ္ဆော ဝိဝဋော,
uncovered and hollow, and
ပူရော ပိဟိတော၊
covered and full.
ကထဉ္စ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ပုဂ္ဂလော တုစ္ဆော ဟောတိ ပိဟိတော? ဣဓ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဧကစ္စဿ ပုဂ္ဂလဿ ပါသာဒိကံ ဟောတိ အဘိက္ကန္တံ ပဋိက္ကန္တံ အာလောကိတံ ဝိလောကိတံ သမိဉ္ဇိတံ ပသာရိတံ သင်္ဃာဋိပတ္တစီဝရဓာရဏံ၊ သော ‘ဣဒံ ဒုက္ခန်'တိ ယထာဘူတံ နပ္ပဇာနာတိ …ပေ… ‘အယံ ဒုက္ခနိရောဓဂါမိနီ ပဋိပဒါ'တိ ယထာဘူတံ နပ္ပဇာနာတိ၊ ဧဝံ ခေါ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ပုဂ္ဂလော တုစ္ဆော ဟောတိ ပိဟိတော၊ သေယျထာပိ သော, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ကုမ္ဘော တုစ္ဆော ပိဟိတော; တထူပမာဟံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဣမံ ပုဂ္ဂလံ ဝဒါမိ၊
And how is a person covered but hollow? It’s when a person is impressive when going out and coming back, when looking ahead and aside, when bending and extending the limbs, and when bearing the outer robe, bowl and robes. But they don’t truly understand: ‘This is suffering’ … ‘This is the origin of suffering’ … ‘This is the cessation of suffering’ … ‘This is the practice that leads to the cessation of suffering’. That’s how a person is covered but hollow. That person is like a pot that’s covered but hollow, I say.
ကထဉ္စ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ပုဂ္ဂလော ပူရော ဟောတိ ဝိဝဋော? ဣဓ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဧကစ္စဿ ပုဂ္ဂလဿ န ပါသာဒိကံ ဟောတိ အဘိက္ကန္တံ ပဋိက္ကန္တံ အာလောကိတံ ဝိလောကိတံ သမိဉ္ဇိတံ ပသာရိတံ သင်္ဃာဋိပတ္တစီဝရဓာရဏံ၊ သော ‘ဣဒံ ဒုက္ခန်'တိ ယထာဘူတံ ပဇာနာတိ …ပေ… ‘အယံ ဒုက္ခနိရောဓဂါမိနီ ပဋိပဒါ'တိ ယထာဘူတံ ပဇာနာတိ၊ ဧဝံ ခေါ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ပုဂ္ဂလော ပူရော ဟောတိ ဝိဝဋော၊ သေယျထာပိ သော, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ကုမ္ဘော ပူရော ဝိဝဋော; တထူပမာဟံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဣမံ ပုဂ္ဂလံ ဝဒါမိ၊
And how is a person uncovered but full? It’s when a person is not impressive … But they truly understand: ‘This is suffering’ …
