Disillusionment
“ปญฺจิเม, ภิกฺขเว, ธมฺมา ภาวิตา พหุลีกตา เอกนฺตนิพฺพิทาย วิราคาย นิโรธาย อุปสมาย อภิญฺญาย สมฺโพธาย นิพฺพานาย สํวตฺตนฺติฯ
“Bhikkhus, these five things, when developed and cultivated, lead solely to disillusionment, dispassion, cessation, peace, insight, awakening, and Nibbana.
กตเม ปญฺจ? อิธ, ภิกฺขเว, ภิกฺขุ อสุภานุปสฺสี กาเย วิหรติ, อาหาเร ปฏิกูลสญฺญี, สพฺพโลเก อนภิรตสญฺญี, สพฺพสงฺขาเรสุ อนิจฺจานุปสฺสี, มรณสญฺญา โข ปนสฺส อชฺฌตฺตํ สูปฏฺฐิตา โหติฯ
What five? A bhikkhu meditates watching, again and again, the ugliness of the body, perceives the repulsiveness of food, perceives non-obsession with the whole world, observes the impermanence of all conditions, and has well established the perception of their own death.
อิเม โข, ภิกฺขเว, ปญฺจ ธมฺมา ภาวิตา พหุลีกตา เอกนฺตนิพฺพิทาย วิราคาย นิโรธาย อุปสมาย อภิญฺญาย สมฺโพธาย นิพฺพานาย สํวตฺตนฺตี”ติฯ
These five things, when developed and cultivated, lead solely to disillusionment, dispassion, cessation, peace, insight, awakening, and Nibbana.”
