Sharing Life
“ปญฺจหิ, ภิกฺขเว, ธมฺเมหิ สมนฺนาคโต ภิกฺขุ อลํสาชีโว สพฺรหฺมจารีนํฯ กตเมหิ ปญฺจหิ?
“Bhikkhus, a bhikkhu with five qualities is fit to share their life with their spiritual companions. What five?
อิธ, ภิกฺขเว, ภิกฺขุ อตฺตนา จ สีลสมฺปนฺโน โหติ, สีลสมฺปทาย กถาย จ กตํ ปญฺหํ พฺยากตฺตา โหติ;
A bhikkhu is personally accomplished in ethics, and answers questions posed when discussing accomplishment in ethics.
อตฺตนา จ สมาธิสมฺปนฺโน โหติ, สมาธิสมฺปทาย กถาย จ กตํ ปญฺหํ พฺยากตฺตา โหติ;
They’re personally accomplished in samādhi, and they answer questions posed when discussing accomplishment in samādhi.
อตฺตนา จ ปญฺญาสมฺปนฺโน โหติ, ปญฺญาสมฺปทาย กถาย จ กตํ ปญฺหํ พฺยากตฺตา โหติ;
They’re personally accomplished in wisdom, and they answer questions posed when discussing accomplishment in wisdom.
อตฺตนา จ วิมุตฺติสมฺปนฺโน โหติ, วิมุตฺติสมฺปทาย กถาย จ กตํ ปญฺหํ พฺยากตฺตา โหติ;
They’re personally accomplished in freedom, and they answer questions posed when discussing accomplishment in freedom.
อตฺตนา จ วิมุตฺติญาณทสฺสนสมฺปนฺโน โหติ, วิมุตฺติญาณทสฺสนสมฺปทาย กถาย จ กตํ ปญฺหํ พฺยากตฺตา โหติฯ
They’re personally accomplished in the knowledge and vision of freedom, and they answer questions posed when discussing accomplishment in the knowledge and vision of freedom.
อิเมหิ โข, ภิกฺขเว, ปญฺจหิ ธมฺเมหิ สมนฺนาคโต ภิกฺขุ อลํสาชีโว สพฺรหฺมจารีนนฺ”ติฯ
A bhikkhu with these five qualities is fit to share their life with their spiritual companions.”
