“ปญฺจหิ, ภิกฺขเว, ธมฺเมหิ สมนฺนาคโต ภิกฺขุ อลํสากจฺโฉ สพฺรหฺมจารีนํฯ กตเมหิ ปญฺจหิ?
“Bhikkhus, a bhikkhu with five qualities is fit to hold a discussion with their spiritual companions. What five?
อิธ, ภิกฺขเว, ภิกฺขุ อตฺตนา จ สีลสมฺปนฺโน โหติ, สีลสมฺปทาย กถาย จ อาคตํ ปญฺหํ พฺยากตฺตา โหติ;
A bhikkhu is personally accomplished in ethics, and answers questions that come up when discussing accomplishment in ethics.
อตฺตนา จ สมาธิสมฺปนฺโน โหติ, สมาธิสมฺปทาย กถาย จ อาคตํ ปญฺหํ พฺยากตฺตา โหติ;
They’re personally accomplished in samādhi, and they answer questions that come up when discussing accomplishment in samādhi.
อตฺตนา จ ปญฺญาสมฺปนฺโน โหติ, ปญฺญาสมฺปทาย กถาย จ อาคตํ ปญฺหํ พฺยากตฺตา โหติ;
They’re personally accomplished in wisdom, and they answer questions that come up when discussing accomplishment in wisdom.
อตฺตนา จ วิมุตฺติสมฺปนฺโน โหติ, วิมุตฺติสมฺปทาย กถาย จ อาคตํ ปญฺหํ พฺยากตฺตา โหติ;
They’re personally accomplished in freedom, and they answer questions that come up when discussing accomplishment in freedom.
อตฺตนา จ วิมุตฺติญาณทสฺสนสมฺปนฺโน โหติ, วิมุตฺติญาณทสฺสนสมฺปทาย กถาย จ อาคตํ ปญฺหํ พฺยากตฺตา โหติฯ
They’re personally accomplished in the knowledge and vision of freedom, and they answer questions that come up when discussing accomplishment in the knowledge and vision of freedom.
อิเมหิ โข, ภิกฺขเว, ปญฺจหิ ธมฺเมหิ สมนฺนาคโต ภิกฺขุ อลํสากจฺโฉ สพฺรหฺมจารีนนฺ”ติฯ
A bhikkhu with these five qualities is fit to hold a discussion with their spiritual companions.”
