សាវត្ថិយំ វិហរតិ។
At Sāvatthī.
“សេយ្យថាបិ, ភិក្ខវេ, មហាបថវី បរិក្ខយំ បរិយាទានំ គច្ឆេយ្យ, ឋបេត្វា សត្ត កោលដ្ឋិមត្តិយោ គុឡិកា។
“Bhikkhus, suppose the great earth was worn away and eroded except for seven clay balls the size of jujube seeds.
តំ កិំ មញ្ញថ, ភិក្ខវេ, កតមំ នុ ខោ ពហុតរំ, យំ វា មហាបថវិយា បរិក្ខីណំ បរិយាទិណ្ណំ យា វា សត្ត កោលដ្ឋិមត្តិយោ គុឡិកា អវសិដ្ឋា”តិ?
What do you think, bhikkhus? Which is more: the great earth that has been worn away and eroded, or the seven clay balls the size of jujube seeds that are left?”
“ឯតទេវ, ភន្តេ, ពហុតរំ, មហាបថវិយា, យទិទំ បរិក្ខីណំ បរិយាទិណ្ណំ; អប្បមត្តិកា សត្ត កោលដ្ឋិមត្តិយោ គុឡិកា អវសិដ្ឋា។ នេវ សតិមំ កលំ ឧបេន្តិ ន សហស្សិមំ កលំ ឧបេន្តិ ន សតសហស្សិមំ កលំ ឧបេន្តិ មហាបថវិយា បរិក្ខីណំ បរិយាទិណ្ណំ ឧបនិធាយ សត្ត កោលដ្ឋិមត្តិយោ គុឡិកា អវសិដ្ឋា”តិ។
“Sir, the great earth that has been worn away and eroded is certainly more. The seven clay balls the size of jujube seeds are tiny. Compared to the great earth that has been worn away and eroded, it’s not nearly a hundredth, a thousandth, or a hundred thousandth part.”
“ឯវមេវ ខោ, ភិក្ខវេ …បេ… ធម្មចក្ខុបដិលាភោ”តិ។
“In the same way, for a noble disciple, the suffering that’s over and done with is more …”
