សាវត្ថិយំ វិហរតិ។
At Sāvatthī.
“សេយ្យថាបិ, ភិក្ខវេ, យត្ថិមា មហានទិយោ សំសន្ទន្តិ សមេន្តិ, សេយ្យថិទំ—គង្គា យមុនា អចិរវតី សរភូ មហី, តំ ឧទកំ បរិក្ខយំ បរិយាទានំ គច្ឆេយ្យ ឋបេត្វា ទ្វេ វា តីណិ វា ឧទកផុសិតានិ។
“Bhikkhus, there are places where the great rivers—the Ganges, Yamuna, Aciravatī, Sarabhū, and Mahī—come together and converge. Suppose that water dried up and evaporated except for two or three drops.
តំ កិំ មញ្ញថ, ភិក្ខវេ, កតមំ នុ ខោ ពហុតរំ, យំ វា សម្ភេជ្ជៅទកំ បរិក្ខីណំ បរិយាទិណ្ណំ យានិ វា ទ្វេ វា តីណិ វា ឧទកផុសិតានិ អវសិដ្ឋានី”តិ?
What do you think, bhikkhus? Which is more: the water in the confluence that has dried up and evaporated, or the two or three drops left?”
“ឯតទេវ, ភន្តេ, ពហុតរំ សម្ភេជ្ជៅទកំ យទិទំ បរិក្ខីណំ បរិយាទិណ្ណំ; អប្បមត្តកានិ ទ្វេ វា តីណិ វា ឧទកផុសិតានិ អវសិដ្ឋានិ។ នេវ សតិមំ កលំ ឧបេន្តិ ន សហស្សិមំ កលំ ឧបេន្តិ ន សតសហស្សិមំ កលំ ឧបេន្តិ សម្ភេជ្ជៅទកំ បរិក្ខីណំ បរិយាទិណ្ណំ ឧបនិធាយ ទ្វេ វា តីណិ វា ឧទកផុសិតានិ អវសិដ្ឋានី”តិ។
“Sir, the water in the confluence that has dried up and evaporated is certainly more. The two or three drops left are tiny. Compared to the water in the confluence that has dried up and evaporated, it’s not nearly a hundredth, a thousandth, or a hundred thousandth part.”
“ឯវមេវ ខោ, ភិក្ខវេ …បេ… ធម្មចក្ខុបដិលាភោ”តិ។
“In the same way, for a noble disciple, the suffering that’s over and done with is more …”
