About Devadatta
ឯវំ មេ សុតំ—ឯកំ សមយំ ភគវា រាជគហេ វិហរតិ គិជ្ឈកូដេ បព្ពតេ អចិរបក្កន្តេ ទេវទត្តេ។
So I have heard. At one time the Buddha was staying near Rājagaha, on the Vulture’s Peak Mountain, not long after Devadatta had left.
អថ ខោ ព្រហ្មា សហម្បតិ អភិក្កន្តាយ រត្តិយា អភិក្កន្តវណ្ណោ កេវលកប្បំ គិជ្ឈកូដំ បព្ពតំ ឱភាសេត្វា យេន ភគវា តេនុបសង្កមិ; ឧបសង្កមិត្វា ភគវន្តំ អភិវាទេត្វា ឯកមន្តំ អដ្ឋាសិ។ ឯកមន្តំ ឋិតោ ខោ ព្រហ្មា សហម្បតិ ទេវទត្តំ អារព្ភ ភគវតោ សន្តិកេ ឥមំ គាថំ អភាសិ:
Then, late at night, the beautiful Brahmā Sahampati, lighting up the entire Vulture’s Peak, went up to the Buddha, bowed, stood to one side, and recited this verse in the Buddha’s presence:
“ផលំ វេ កទលិំ ហន្តិ, ផលំ វេឡុំ ផលំ នឡំ; សក្ការោ កាបុរិសំ ហន្តិ, គព្ភោ អស្សតរិំ យថា”តិ។
“The banana tree is destroyed by its own fruit, as are the bamboo and the reed. Honor destroys a sinner, as pregnancy destroys a mule.”
