A Question About Ignorance
“‘အဝိဇ္ဇာ, အဝိဇ္ဇာ'တိ, အာဝုသော သာရိပုတ္တ, ဝုစ္စတိ၊ ကတမာ နု ခေါ, အာဝုသော, အဝိဇ္ဇာ”တိ?
“Friend Sāriputta, they speak of this thing called ‘ignorance’. What is ignorance?”
“ယံ ခေါ, အာဝုသော, ဒုက္ခေ အညာဏံ, ဒုက္ခသမုဒယေ အညာဏံ, ဒုက္ခနိရောဓေ အညာဏံ, ဒုက္ခနိရောဓဂါမိနိယာ ပဋိပဒါယ အညာဏံ—အယံ ဝုစ္စတာဝုသော, အဝိဇ္ဇာ”တိ၊
“Not knowing about suffering, the origin of suffering, the cessation of suffering, and the practice that leads to the cessation of suffering. This is called ignorance.”
“အတ္ထိ ပနာဝုသော, မဂ္ဂေါ အတ္ထိ ပဋိပဒါ, ဧတိဿာ အဝိဇ္ဇာယ ပဟာနာယာ”တိ?
“But, friend, is there a path and a practice for giving up that ignorance?”
“အတ္ထိ ခေါ, အာဝုသော, မဂ္ဂေါ အတ္ထိ ပဋိပဒါ, ဧတိဿာ အဝိဇ္ဇာယ ပဟာနာယာ”တိ၊
“There is.” …
“ကတမော ပနာဝုသော, မဂ္ဂေါ ကတမာ ပဋိပဒါ, ဧတိဿာ အဝိဇ္ဇာယ ပဟာနာယာ”တိ? “အယမေဝ ခေါ, အာဝုသော, အရိယော အဋ္ဌင်္ဂိကော မဂ္ဂေါ, ဧတိဿာ အဝိဇ္ဇာယ ပဟာနာယ, သေယျထိဒံ—သမ္မာဒိဋ္ဌိ …ပေ… သမ္မာသမာဓိ၊ အယံ ခေါ, အာဝုသော, မဂ္ဂေါ အယံ ပဋိပဒါ, ဧတိဿာ အဝိဇ္ဇာယ ပဟာနာယာ”တိ၊ “ဘဒ္ဒကော, အာဝုသော, မဂ္ဂေါ ဘဒ္ဒိကာ ပဋိပဒါ, ဧတိဿာ အဝိဇ္ဇာယ ပဟာနာယ၊ အလဉ္စ ပနာဝုသော သာရိပုတ္တ, အပ္ပမာဒါယာ”တိ၊
