အညတရဗြဟ္မသုတ္တ
A Certain Brahmā
သာဝတ္ထိနိဒါနံ၊
At Sāvatthī.
တေန ခေါ ပန သမယေန အညတရဿ ဗြဟ္မုနော ဧဝရူပံ ပါပကံ ဒိဋ္ဌိဂတံ ဥပ္ပန္နံ ဟောတိ: “နတ္ထိ သော သမဏော ဝါ ဗြာဟ္မဏော ဝါ ယော ဣဓ အာဂစ္ဆေယျာ”တိ၊
Now at that time a certain Brahmā had the following harmful misconception: “No ascetic or brahmin can come here!”
အထ ခေါ ဘဂဝါ တဿ ဗြဟ္မုနော စေတသာ စေတောပရိဝိတက္ကမညာယ—သေယျထာပိ နာမ ဗလဝါ ပုရိသော …ပေ… တသ္မိံ ဗြဟ္မလောကေ ပါတုရဟောသိ၊ အထ ခေါ ဘဂဝါ တဿ ဗြဟ္မုနော ဥပရိ ဝေဟာသံ ပလ္လင်္ကေန နိသီဒိ တေဇောဓာတုံ သမာပဇ္ဇိတွာ၊
Then the Buddha knew what that Brahmā was thinking. As easily as a strong person would extend or contract their arm, he vanished from Jeta’s Grove and reappeared in that Brahmā realm. Then the Buddha sat cross-legged in the air above that Brahmā, having entered upon the fire element.
အထ ခေါ အာယသ္မတော မဟာမောဂ္ဂလ္လာနဿ ဧတဒဟောသိ: “ကဟံ နု ခေါ ဘဂဝါ ဧတရဟိ ဝိဟရတီ”တိ? အဒ္ဒသာ ခေါ အာယသ္မာ မဟာမောဂ္ဂလ္လာနော ဘဂဝန္တံ ဒိဗ္ဗေန စက္ခုနာ ဝိသုဒ္ဓေန အတိက္ကန္တမာနုသကေန တဿ ဗြဟ္မုနော ဥပရိ ဝေဟာသံ ပလ္လင်္ကေန နိသိန္နံ တေဇောဓာတုံ သမာပန္နံ၊ ဒိသွာန—သေယျထာပိ နာမ ဗလဝါ ပုရိသော သမိဉ္ဇိတံ ဝါ ဗာဟံ ပသာရေယျ, ပသာရိတံ ဝါ ဗာဟံ သမိဉ္ဇေယျ; ဧဝမေဝ—ဇေတဝနေ အန္တရဟိတော တသ္မိံ ဗြဟ္မလောကေ ပါတုရဟောသိ၊ အထ ခေါ အာယသ္မာ မဟာမောဂ္ဂလ္လာနော ပုရတ္ထိမံ ဒိသံ နိဿာယ တဿ ဗြဟ္မုနော ဥပရိ ဝေဟာသံ ပလ္လင်္ကေန နိသီဒိ တေဇောဓာတုံ သမာပဇ္ဇိတွာ နီစတရံ ဘဂဝတော၊
Then Venerable Mahāmoggallāna thought, “Where is the Buddha staying at present?” With clairvoyance that is purified and superhuman, he saw the Buddha seated cross-legged in the air above that Brahmā, having entered upon the fire element. Then, as easily as a strong person would extend or contract their arm, he vanished from Jeta’s Grove and reappeared in that Brahmā realm. Then Mahāmoggallāna—positioning himself in the east, below the Buddha—sat cross-legged in the air above that Brahmā, having entered upon the fire element.
အထ ခေါ အာယသ္မတော မဟာကဿပဿ ဧတဒဟောသိ: “ကဟံ နု ခေါ ဘဂဝါ ဧတရဟိ ဝိဟရတီ”တိ? အဒ္ဒသာ ခေါ အာယသ္မာ မဟာကဿပေါ ဘဂဝန္တံ ဒိဗ္ဗေန စက္ခုနာ …ပေ… ဒိသွာန—သေယျထာပိ နာမ ဗလဝါ ပုရိသော …ပေ… ဧဝမေဝ—ဇေတဝနေ အန္တရဟိတော တသ္မိံ ဗြဟ္မလောကေ ပါတုရဟောသိ၊ အထ ခေါ အာယသ္မာ မဟာကဿပေါ ဒက္ခိဏံ ဒိသံ နိဿာယ တဿ ဗြဟ္မုနော ဥပရိ ဝေဟာသံ ပလ္လင်္ကေန နိသီဒိ တေဇောဓာတုံ သမာပဇ္ဇိတွာ နီစတရံ ဘဂဝတော၊
Then Venerable Mahākassapa … positioned himself in the south …
အထ ခေါ အာယသ္မတော မဟာကပ္ပိနဿ ဧတဒဟောသိ: “ကဟံ နု ခေါ ဘဂဝါ ဧတရဟိ ဝိဟရတီ”တိ? အဒ္ဒသာ ခေါ အာယသ္မာ မဟာကပ္ပိနော ဘဂဝန္တံ ဒိဗ္ဗေန စက္ခုနာ …ပေ… တေဇောဓာတုံ သမာပန္နံ၊ ဒိသွာန—သေယျထာပိ နာမ ဗလဝါ ပုရိသော …ပေ… ဧဝမေဝ—ဇေတဝနေ အန္တရဟိတော တသ္မိံ ဗြဟ္မလောကေ ပါတုရဟောသိ၊ အထ ခေါ အာယသ္မာ မဟာကပ္ပိနော ပစ္ဆိမံ ဒိသံ နိဿာယ တဿ ဗြဟ္မုနော ဥပရိ ဝေဟာသံ ပလ္လင်္ကေန နိသီဒိ တေဇောဓာတုံ သမာပဇ္ဇိတွာ နီစတရံ ဘဂဝတော၊
Venerable Mahākappina … positioned himself in the west …
အထ ခေါ အာယသ္မတော အနုရုဒ္ဓဿ ဧတဒဟောသိ: “ကဟံ နု ခေါ ဘဂဝါ ဧတရဟိ ဝိဟရတီ”တိ? အဒ္ဒသာ ခေါ အာယသ္မာ အနုရုဒ္ဓေါ …ပေ… တေဇောဓာတုံ သမာပန္နံ၊ ဒိသွာန—သေယျထာပိ နာမ ဗလဝါ ပုရိသော …ပေ… တသ္မိံ ဗြဟ္မလောကေ ပါတုရဟောသိ၊ အထ ခေါ အာယသ္မာ အနုရုဒ္ဓေါ ဥတ္တရံ ဒိသံ နိဿာယ တဿ ဗြဟ္မုနော ဥပရိ ဝေဟာသံ ပလ္လင်္ကေန နိသီဒိ တေဇောဓာတုံ သမာပဇ္ဇိတွာ နီစတရံ ဘဂဝတော၊
Venerable Anuruddha … positioned himself in the north, below the Buddha, sitting cross-legged in the air above that Brahmā, having entered upon the fire element.
အထ ခေါ အာယသ္မာ မဟာမောဂ္ဂလ္လာနော တံ ဗြဟ္မာနံ ဂါထာယ အဇ္ဈဘာသိ:
Then Mahāmoggallāna addressed that Brahmā in verse:
“အဇ္ဇာပိ တေ အာဝုသော သာ ဒိဋ္ဌိ, ယာ တေ ဒိဋ္ဌိ ပုရေ အဟု; ပဿသိ ဝီတိဝတ္တန္တံ, ဗြဟ္မလောကေ ပဘဿရန်”တိ၊
“Sir, do you still have the same view that you had in the past? Or do you see the radiance transcending the Brahmā realm?”
“န မေ မာရိသ သာ ဒိဋ္ဌိ, ယာ မေ ဒိဋ္ဌိ ပုရေ အဟု; ပဿာမိ ဝီတိဝတ္တန္တံ, ဗြဟ္မလောကေ ပဘဿရံ; သွာဟံ အဇ္ဇ ကထံ ဝဇ္ဇံ, အဟံ နိစ္စောမှိ သဿတော”တိ၊
“Good sir, I don’t have that view that I had in the past. I see the radiance transcending the Brahmā realm. So how could I say today that I am permanent and eternal?”
အထ ခေါ ဘဂဝါ တံ ဗြဟ္မာနံ သံဝေဇေတွာ—သေယျထာပိ နာမ ဗလဝါ ပုရိသော သမိဉ္ဇိတံ ဝါ ဗာဟံ ပသာရေယျ, ပသာရိတံ ဝါ ဗာဟံ သမိဉ္ဇေယျ; ဧဝမေဝ—တသ္မိံ ဗြဟ္မလောကေ အန္တရဟိတော ဇေတဝနေ ပါတုရဟောသိ၊
Having inspired a sense of awe in the Brahmā, as easily as a strong person would extend or contract their arm, the Buddha vanished from the Brahmā realm and reappeared in Jeta’s Grove.
အထ ခေါ သော ဗြဟ္မာ အညတရံ ဗြဟ္မပါရိသဇ္ဇံ အာမန္တေသိ: “ဧဟိ တွံ, မာရိသ, ယေနာယသ္မာ မဟာမောဂ္ဂလ္လာနော တေနုပသင်္ကမ; ဥပသင်္ကမိတွာ အာယသ္မန္တံ မဟာမောဂ္ဂလ္လာနံ ဧဝံ ဝဒေဟိ: ‘အတ္ထိ နု ခေါ, မာရိသ မောဂ္ဂလ္လာန, အညေပိ တဿ ဘဂဝတော သာဝကာ ဧဝံမဟိဒ္ဓိကာ ဧဝံမဟာနုဘာဝါ; သေယျထာပိ ဘဝံ မောဂ္ဂလ္လာနော ကဿပေါ ကပ္ပိနော အနုရုဒ္ဓေါ'”တိ?
Then that Brahmā addressed a member of his retinue, “Please, good sir, go up to Venerable Mahāmoggallāna and say to him: ‘Moggallāna my good sir, are there any other disciples of the Buddha who have power and might comparable to the masters Moggallāna, Kassapa, Kappina, and Anuruddha?’”
“ဧဝံ, မာရိသာ”တိ ခေါ သော ဗြဟ္မပါရိသဇ္ဇော တဿ ဗြဟ္မုနော ပဋိဿုတွာ ယေနာယသ္မာ မဟာမောဂ္ဂလ္လာနော တေနုပသင်္ကမိ; ဥပသင်္ကမိတွာ အာယသ္မန္တံ မဟာမောဂ္ဂလ္လာနံ ဧတဒဝေါစ: “အတ္ထိ နု ခေါ, မာရိသ မောဂ္ဂလ္လာန, အညေပိ တဿ ဘဂဝတော သာဝကာ ဧဝံမဟိဒ္ဓိကာ ဧဝံမဟာနုဘာဝါ; သေယျထာပိ ဘဝံ မောဂ္ဂလ္လာနော ကဿပေါ ကပ္ပိနော အနုရုဒ္ဓေါ”တိ?
“Yes, good sir,” replied that retinue member. He went to Moggallāna and asked as instructed.
အထ ခေါ အာယသ္မာ မဟာမောဂ္ဂလ္လာနော တံ ဗြဟ္မပါရိသဇ္ဇံ ဂါထာယ အဇ္ဈဘာသိ:
Then Mahāmoggallāna addressed that member of Brahmā’s retinue in verse:
“တေဝိဇ္ဇာ ဣဒ္ဓိပတ္တာ စ, စေတောပရိယာယကောဝိဒါ; ခီဏာသဝါ အရဟန္တော, ဗဟူ ဗုဒ္ဓဿ သာဝကာ”တိ၊
“There are many disciples of the Buddha who have the three knowledges, and have attained psychic power,
expert in reading minds, they’re perfected ones with defilements ended.”
အထ ခေါ သော ဗြဟ္မပါရိသဇ္ဇော အာယသ္မတော မဟာမောဂ္ဂလ္လာနဿ ဘာသိတံ အဘိနန္ဒိတွာ အနုမောဒိတွာ ယေန သော ဗြဟ္မာ တေနုပသင်္ကမိ; ဥပသင်္ကမိတွာ တံ ဗြဟ္မာနံ ဧတဒဝေါစ: “အာယသ္မာ, မာရိသ, မဟာမောဂ္ဂလ္လာနော ဧဝမာဟ:
Then that member of Brahmā’s retinue, having approved and agreed with what Mahāmoggallāna said, went to that Brahmā and said to him, “Good sir, Venerable Mahāmoggallāna said this:
‘တေဝိဇ္ဇာ ဣဒ္ဓိပတ္တာ စ, စေတောပရိယာယကောဝိဒါ; ခီဏာသဝါ အရဟန္တော, ဗဟူ ဗုဒ္ဓဿ သာဝကာ'”တိ၊
‘There are many disciples of the Buddha who have the three knowledges, and have attained psychic power,
expert in reading minds, they’re perfected ones with defilements ended.’”
ဣဒမဝေါစ သော ဗြဟ္မပါရိသဇ္ဇော၊ အတ္တမနော စ သော ဗြဟ္မာ တဿ ဗြဟ္မပါရိသဇ္ဇဿ ဘာသိတံ အဘိနန္ဒီတိ၊
That’s what that member of Brahmā’s retinue said. Satisfied, that Brahmā was happy with what the member of his retinue said.
