With Anāthapiṇḍika
ឯកមន្តំ ឋិតោ ខោ អនាថបិណ្ឌិកោ ទេវបុត្តោ ភគវតោ សន្តិកេ ឥមា គាថាយោ អភាសិ:
Standing to one side, the god Anāthapiṇḍika recited these verses in the Buddha’s presence:
“ឥទញ្ហិ តំ ជេតវនំ, ឥសិសង្ឃនិសេវិតំ; អាវុត្ថំ ធម្មរាជេន, បីតិសញ្ជននំ មម។
“This is indeed that Jeta’s Grove, frequented by the Saṅgha of seers, where the King of Dhamma stayed: it brings me joy!
កម្មំ វិជ្ជា ច ធម្មោ ច, សីលំ ជីវិតមុត្តមំ; ឯតេន មច្ចា សុជ្ឈន្តិ, ន គោត្តេន ធនេន វា។
Deeds, knowledge, and principle; ethical conduct, an excellent livelihood; by these are mortals purified, not by clan or wealth.
តស្មា ហិ បណ្ឌិតោ បោសោ, សម្បស្សំ អត្ថមត្តនោ; យោនិសោ វិចិនេ ធម្មំ, ឯវំ តត្ថ វិសុជ្ឈតិ។
That’s why an astute person, seeing what’s good for themselves, would examine the teaching rationally, and thus be purified in it.
សារិបុត្តោវ បញ្ញាយ, សីលេន ឧបសមេន ច; យោបិ បារង្គតោ ភិក្ខុ, ឯតាវបរមោ សិយា”តិ។
Sāriputta is full of wisdom, ethics, and peace. Even a bhikkhu who has crossed over might at best equal him.”
ឥទមវោច អនាថបិណ្ឌិកោ ទេវបុត្តោ។ ឥទំ វត្វា ភគវន្តំ អភិវាទេត្វា បទក្ខិណំ កត្វា តត្ថេវន្តរធាយិ។
This is what the god Anāthapiṇḍika said. Then he bowed and respectfully circled the Buddha, keeping him on his right side, before vanishing right there.
អថ ខោ ភគវា តស្សា រត្តិយា អច្ចយេន ភិក្ខូ អាមន្តេសិ: “ឥមំ, ភិក្ខវេ, រត្តិំ អញ្ញតរោ ទេវបុត្តោ អភិក្កន្តាយ រត្តិយា អភិក្កន្តវណ្ណោ កេវលកប្បំ ជេតវនំ ឱភាសេត្វា យេនាហំ តេនុបសង្កមិ; ឧបសង្កមិត្វា មំ អភិវាទេត្វា ឯកមន្តំ អដ្ឋាសិ។ ឯកមន្តំ ឋិតោ ខោ, ភិក្ខវេ, សោ ទេវបុត្តោ មម សន្តិកេ ឥមា គាថាយោ អភាសិ:
Then, when the night had passed, the Buddha addressed the bhikkhus: “Bhikkhus, tonight, a certain glorious god, lighting up the entire Jeta’s Grove, came to me, bowed, stood to one side, and recited these verses in my presence.” The Buddha then repeated the verses in full.
‘ឥទញ្ហិ តំ ជេតវនំ, ឥសិសង្ឃនិសេវិតំ; អាវុត្ថំ ធម្មរាជេន, បីតិសញ្ជននំ មម។
កម្មំ វិជ្ជា ច ធម្មោ ច, សីលំ ជីវិតមុត្តមំ; ឯតេន មច្ចា សុជ្ឈន្តិ, ន គោត្តេន ធនេន វា។
តស្មា ហិ បណ្ឌិតោ បោសោ, សម្បស្សំ អត្ថមត្តនោ; យោនិសោ វិចិនេ ធម្មំ, ឯវំ តត្ថ វិសុជ្ឈតិ។
សារិបុត្តោវ បញ្ញាយ, សីលេន ឧបសមេន ច; យោបិ បារង្គតោ ភិក្ខុ, ឯតាវបរមោ សិយាៜតិ។
ឥទមវោច, ភិក្ខវេ, សោ ទេវបុត្តោ។ ឥទំ វត្វា មំ អភិវាទេត្វា បទក្ខិណំ កត្វា តត្ថេវន្តរធាយី”តិ។
ឯវំ វុត្តេ, អាយស្មា អានន្ទោ ភគវន្តំ ឯតទវោច: “សោ ហិ នូន, ភន្តេ, អនាថបិណ្ឌិកោ ទេវបុត្តោ ភវិស្សតិ។ អនាថបិណ្ឌិកោ គហបតិ អាយស្មន្តេ សារិបុត្តេ អភិប្បសន្នោ អហោសី”តិ។
When he said this, Venerable Ānanda said to the Buddha, “Sir, that god must surely have been Anāthapiṇḍika. For the householder Anāthapiṇḍika was devoted to Venerable Sāriputta.”
“សាធុ សាធុ, អានន្ទ, យាវតកំ ខោ, អានន្ទ, តក្កាយ បត្តព្ពំ អនុប្បត្តំ តំ តយា។ អនាថបិណ្ឌិកោ ហិ សោ, អានន្ទ, ទេវបុត្តោ”តិ។
“Good, good, Ānanda. You’ve reached the logical conclusion, as far as logic goes. For that was indeed the god Anāthapiṇḍika.”
អនាថបិណ្ឌិកវគ្គោ ទុតិយោ។
តស្សុទ្ទានំ
ចន្ទិមសោ ច វេណ្ឌុ ច, ទីឃលដ្ឋិ ច នន្ទនោ; ចន្ទនោ វាសុទត្តោ ច, សុព្រហ្មា កកុធេន ច; ឧត្តរោ នវមោ វុត្តោ, ទសមោ អនាថបិណ្ឌិកោតិ។
