A Mountain
សាវត្ថិយំ វិហរតិ។
At Sāvatthī.
“សេយ្យថាបិ, ភិក្ខវេ, បុរិសោ ហិមវតោ បព្ពតរាជស្ស សត្ត សាសបមត្តិយោ បាសាណសក្ខរា ឧបនិក្ខិបេយ្យ។
“Bhikkhus, suppose a person was to place seven pebbles the size of mustard seeds on the Himalayas, the king of mountains.
តំ កិំ មញ្ញថ, ភិក្ខវេ, កតមំ នុ ខោ ពហុតរំ, យា វា សត្ត សាសបមត្តិយោ បាសាណសក្ខរា ឧបនិក្ខិត្តា យោ វា ហិមវា បព្ពតរាជា”តិ?
What do you think, bhikkhus? Which is more: the seven pebbles the size of mustard seeds, or the Himalayas, the king of mountains?”
“ឯតទេវ, ភន្តេ, ពហុតរំ យទិទំ ហិមវា បព្ពតរាជា; អប្បមត្តិកា សត្ត សាសបមត្តិយោ បាសាណសក្ខរា ឧបនិក្ខិត្តា។ នេវ សតិមំ កលំ ឧបេន្តិ ន សហស្សិមំ កលំ ឧបេន្តិ ន សតសហស្សិមំ កលំ ឧបេន្តិ ហិមវន្តំ បព្ពតរាជានំ ឧបនិធាយ សត្ត សាសបមត្តិយោ បាសាណសក្ខរា ឧបនិក្ខិត្តា”តិ។
“Sir, the Himalayas, the king of mountains, is certainly more. The seven pebbles the size of mustard seeds are tiny. Compared to the Himalayas, it’s not nearly a hundredth, a thousandth, or a hundred thousandth part.”
“ឯវមេវ ខោ …បេ… ធម្មចក្ខុបដិលាភោ”តិ។
“In the same way, for a noble disciple, the suffering that’s over and done with is more …”
