កស្សបគោត្តសុត្ត
With Kassapagotta
ឯកំ សមយំ អាយស្មា កស្សបគោត្តោ កោសលេសុ វិហរតិ អញ្ញតរស្មិំ វនសណ្ឌេ។
At one time Venerable Kassapagotta was staying in the land of the Kosalans in a certain forest grove.
តេន ខោ បន សមយេន អាយស្មា កស្សបគោត្តោ ទិវាវិហារគតោ អញ្ញតរំ ឆេតំ ឱវទតិ។ អថ ខោ យា តស្មិំ វនសណ្ឌេ អធិវត្ថា ទេវតា អាយស្មន្តំ កស្សបគោត្តំ សំវេជេតុកាមា យេនាយស្មា កស្សបគោត្តោ តេនុបសង្កមិ; ឧបសង្កមិត្វា អាយស្មន្តំ កស្សបគោត្តំ គាថាហិ អជ្ឈភាសិ:
Now at that time Venerable Kassapagotta, having withdrawn for his day’s meditation, tried to advise a tribal hunter. Then the deity haunting that forest approached Kassapagotta wanting to stir him up, and recited these verses:
“គិរិទុគ្គចរំ ឆេតំ, អប្បបញ្ញំ អចេតសំ; អកាលេ ឱវទំ ភិក្ខុ, មន្ទោវ បដិភាតិ មំ។
“A tribal hunter wandering the rugged hills is unintelligent, unthinking. It’s a waste of time to advise him; this bhikkhu seems to me like an idiot.
សុណាតិ ន វិជានាតិ, អាលោកេតិ ន បស្សតិ; ធម្មស្មិំ ភញ្ញមានស្មិំ, អត្ថំ ពាលោ ន ពុជ្ឈតិ។
The tribal hunter listens without understanding, he looks without seeing. Though the teaching is spoken, the fool doesn’t get it.
សចេបិ ទស បជ្ជោតេ, ធារយិស្សសិ កស្សប; នេវ ទក្ខតិ រូបានិ, ចក្ខុ ហិស្ស ន វិជ្ជតី”តិ។
Even if you lit ten lamps and brought them to him, Kassapa, he wouldn’t see anything, for he has no eyes to see.”
អថ ខោ អាយស្មា កស្សបគោត្តោ តាយ ទេវតាយ សំវេជិតោ សំវេគមាបាទីតិ។
Impelled by that deity, Venerable Kassapagotta was struck with a sense of urgency.
