Corruptions

“Bhikkhus, these four corruptions obscure the sun and moon, so they don’t shine and glow and radiate. What four? Clouds … Fog … Smoke … An eclipse of Rāhu, lord of demons … These are four corruptions that obscure the sun and moon, so they don’t shine and glow and radiate.
ဧဝမေဝံ ခေါ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, စတ္တာရောမေ သမဏဗြာဟ္မဏာနံ ဥပက္ကိလေသာ, ယေဟိ ဥပက္ကိလေသေဟိ ဥပက္ကိလိဋ္ဌာ ဧကေ သမဏဗြာဟ္မဏာ န တပန္တိ န ဘာသန္တိ န ဝိရောစန္တိ၊ ကတမေ စတ္တာရော?
In the same way, these four things corrupt ascetics and brahmins, so they don’t shine and glow and radiate. What four?
သန္တိ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဧကေ သမဏဗြာဟ္မဏာ သုရံ ပိဝန္တိ မေရယံ, သုရာမေရယပါနာ အပ္ပဋိဝိရတာ၊ အယံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ပဌမော သမဏဗြာဟ္မဏာနံ ဥပက္ကိလေသော, ယေန ဥပက္ကိလေသေန ဥပက္ကိလိဋ္ဌာ ဧကေ သမဏဗြာဟ္မဏာ န တပန္တိ န ဘာသန္တိ န ဝိရောစန္တိ၊

ရာဂဒေါသပရိက္ကိဋ္ဌာ, ဧကေ သမဏဗြာဟ္မဏာ; အဝိဇ္ဇာနိဝုတာ ပေါသာ, ပိယရူပါဘိနန္ဒိနော၊
Some ascetics and brahmins are plagued by greed and hate; men shrouded by ignorance, enjoying things that seem pleasant.
သုရံ ပိဝန္တိ မေရယံ, ပဋိသေဝန္တိ မေထုနံ; ရဇတံ ဇာတရူပဉ္စ, သာဒိယန္တိ အဝိဒ္ဒသူ; မိစ္ဆာဇီဝေန ဇီဝန္တိ, ဧကေ သမဏဗြာဟ္မဏာ၊
Drinking liquor, having sex, accepting money and gold: they’re ignorant. Some ascetics and brahmins make a living the wrong way.
ဧတေ ဥပက္ကိလေသာ ဝုတ္တာ, ဗုဒ္ဓေနာဒိစ္စဗန္ဓုနာ; ယေဟိ ဥပက္ကိလေသေဟိ, ဧကေ သမဏဗြာဟ္မဏာ; န တပန္တိ န ဘာသန္တိ, အသုဒ္ဓါ သရဇာ မဂါ၊
These corruptions were spoken of by the Buddha, kinsman of the Sun. When corrupted by these, some ascetics and brahmins don’t shine or glow. Impure, dirty creatures,
အန္ဓကာရေန ဩနဒ္ဓါ, တဏှာဒါသာ သနေတ္တိကာ; ဝဍ္ဎေန္တိ ကဋသိံ ဃောရံ, အာဒိယန္တိ ပုနဗ္ဘဝန်”တိ၊
shrouded in darkness, bondservants of craving, full of attachments, swell the horrors of the charnel ground, taking up future lives.”
