“ปญฺจหิ, ภิกฺขเว, ธมฺเมหิ สมนฺนาคโต ภิกฺขุ อาหุเนโยฺย โหติ ปาหุเนโยฺย ทกฺขิเณโยฺย อญฺชลิกรณีโย อนุตฺตรํ ปุญฺญกฺเขตฺตํ โลกสฺสฯ
“Bhikkhus, a bhikkhu with five qualities is worthy of offerings dedicated to the gods, worthy of hospitality, worthy of a religious donation, worthy of veneration with joined palms, and is the supreme field of merit for the world.
กตเมหิ ปญฺจหิ? อิธ, ภิกฺขเว, ภิกฺขุ สีลสมฺปนฺโน โหติ, สมาธิสมฺปนฺโน โหติ, ปญฺญาสมฺปนฺโน โหติ, วิมุตฺติสมฺปนฺโน โหติ, วิมุตฺติญาณทสฺสนสมฺปนฺโน โหติฯ
What five? It’s when a bhikkhu is accomplished in ethics, samādhi, wisdom, freedom, and the knowledge and vision of freedom.
อิเมหิ โข, ภิกฺขเว, ปญฺจหิ ธมฺเมหิ สมนฺนาคโต ภิกฺขุ อาหุเนโยฺย โหติ ปาหุเนโยฺย ทกฺขิเณโยฺย อญฺชลิกรณีโย อนุตฺตรํ ปุญฺญกฺเขตฺตํ โลกสฺสา”ติฯ
