“ปญฺจหิ, ภิกฺขเว, ธมฺเมหิ สมนฺนาคโต ภิกฺขุ อุสฺสงฺกิตปริสงฺกิโต โหติ ปาปภิกฺขูติ อปิ อกุปฺปธมฺโมปิฯ
“Bhikkhus, even if a monk is of impeccable character, he might be suspected and distrusted as a ‘bad monk’ for five reasons.
กตเมหิ ปญฺจหิ? อิธ, ภิกฺขเว, ภิกฺขุ เวสิยาโคจโร วา โหติ, วิธวาโคจโร วา โหติ, ถุลฺลกุมาริกาโคจโร วา โหติ, ปณฺฑกโคจโร วา โหติ, ภิกฺขุนีโคจโร วา โหติฯ
What five? It’s when a monk frequently collects alms from prostitutes, widows, voluptuous girls, eunuchs, or nuns.
อิเมหิ โข, ภิกฺขเว, ปญฺจหิ ธมฺเมหิ สมนฺนาคโต ภิกฺขุ อุสฺสงฺกิตปริสงฺกิโต โหติ ปาปภิกฺขูติ อปิ อกุปฺปธมฺโมปี”ติฯ
Even if a monk is of impeccable character, he might be suspected and distrusted as a ‘bad monk’ for these five reasons.”
