A Sword
សាវត្ថិនិទានំ។
At Sāvatthī.
ឯកមន្តំ ឋិតា ខោ សា ទេវតា ភគវតោ សន្តិកេ ឥមំ គាថំ អភាសិ:
Standing to one side, that deity recited this verse in the Buddha’s presence:
“សត្តិយា វិយ ឱមដ្ឋោ, ឌយ្ហមានោវ មត្ថកេ; កាមរាគប្បហានាយ, សតោ ភិក្ខុ បរិព្ពជេ”តិ។
“Like they’re struck by a sword, like their head was on fire, a bhikkhu, mindful, should go forth, to give up sensual desire.”
“សត្តិយា វិយ ឱមដ្ឋោ, ឌយ្ហមានោវ មត្ថកេ; សក្កាយទិដ្ឋិប្បហានាយ, សតោ ភិក្ខុ បរិព្ពជេ”តិ។
