သာရဇ္ဇသုတ္တ
Timidity
ဧဝံ မေ သုတံ—ဧကံ သမယံ ဘဂဝါ သာဝတ္ထိယံ ဝိဟရတိ ဇေတဝနေ အနာထပိဏ္ဍိကဿ အာရာမေ၊ တတြ ခေါ ဘဂဝါ ဘိက္ခူ အာမန္တေသိ: “ဘိက္ခဝေါ”တိ၊
So I have heard. At one time the Buddha was staying near Sāvatthī in Jeta’s Grove, Anāthapiṇḍika’s monastery. There the Buddha addressed the bhikkhus, “Bhikkhus!”
“ဘဒန္တေ”တိ တေ ဘိက္ခူ ဘဂဝတော ပစ္စဿောသုံ၊ ဘဂဝါ ဧတဒဝေါစ:
“Venerable sir,” they replied. The Buddha said this:
“ပဉ္စဟိ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဓမ္မေဟိ သမန္နာဂတော ဥပါသကော သာရဇ္ဇံ ဩက္ကန္တော ဟောတိ၊ ကတမေဟိ ပဉ္စဟိ? ပါဏာတိပါတီ ဟောတိ, အဒိန္နာဒါယီ ဟောတိ, ကာမေသုမိစ္ဆာစာရီ ဟောတိ, မုသာဝါဒီ ဟောတိ, သုရာမေရယမဇ္ဇပမာဒဋ္ဌာယီ ဟောတိ၊ ဣမေဟိ ခေါ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ပဉ္စဟိ ဓမ္မေဟိ သမန္နာဂတော ဥပါသကော သာရဇ္ဇံ ဩက္ကန္တော ဟောတိ၊
“A lay follower with five qualities is overcome by timidity. What five? They kill living creatures, steal, commit sexual misconduct, lie, and use alcoholic drinks that cause negligence. A lay follower with these five qualities is overcome by timidity.
ပဉ္စဟိ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဓမ္မေဟိ သမန္နာဂတော ဥပါသကော ဝိသာရဒေါ ဟောတိ၊ ကတမေဟိ ပဉ္စဟိ? ပါဏာတိပါတာ ပဋိဝိရတော ဟောတိ, အဒိန္နာဒါနာ ပဋိဝိရတော ဟောတိ, ကာမေသုမိစ္ဆာစာရာ ပဋိဝိရတော ဟောတိ, မုသာဝါဒါ ပဋိဝိရတော ဟောတိ, သုရာမေရယမဇ္ဇပမာဒဋ္ဌာနာ ပဋိဝိရတော ဟောတိ၊ ဣမေဟိ ခေါ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ပဉ္စဟိ ဓမ္မေဟိ သမန္နာဂတော ဥပါသကော ဝိသာရဒေါ ဟောတီ”တိ၊
A lay follower with five qualities is self-assured. What five? They don’t kill living creatures, steal, commit sexual misconduct, lie, or use alcoholic drinks that cause negligence. A lay follower with these five qualities is self-assured.”
