សមណព្រាហ្មណសុត្ត
Ascetics and Brahmins
សាវត្ថិយំ វិហរតិ។
At Sāvatthī.
“យេ ហិ កេចិ, ភិក្ខវេ, សមណា វា ព្រាហ្មណា វា លាភសក្ការសិលោកស្ស អស្សាទញ្ច អាទីនវញ្ច និស្សរណញ្ច យថាភូតំ នប្បជានន្តិ, ន មេ តេ, ភិក្ខវេ, សមណា វា ព្រាហ្មណា វា សមណេសុ វា សមណសម្មតា ព្រាហ្មណេសុ វា ព្រាហ្មណសម្មតា, ន ច បន តេ អាយស្មន្តា សាមញ្ញត្ថំ វា ព្រហ្មញ្ញត្ថំ វា ទិដ្ឋេវ ធម្មេ សយំ អភិញ្ញា សច្ឆិកត្វា ឧបសម្បជ្ជ វិហរន្តិ។
“Bhikkhus, there are ascetics and brahmins who don’t truly understand the gratification, drawback, and escape when it comes to possessions, honor, and popularity. I don’t deem them as true ascetics and brahmins. Those venerables don’t realize the goal of life as an ascetic or brahmin, and don’t live having realized it with their own insight.
យេ ច ខោ កេចិ, ភិក្ខវេ, សមណា វា ព្រាហ្មណា វា លាភសក្ការសិលោកស្ស អស្សាទញ្ច អាទីនវញ្ច និស្សរណញ្ច យថាភូតំ បជានន្តិ, តេ ច ខោ មេ, ភិក្ខវេ, សមណា វា ព្រាហ្មណា វា សមណេសុ ចេវ សមណសម្មតា ព្រាហ្មណេសុ ច ព្រាហ្មណសម្មតា, តេ ច បនាយស្មន្តោ សាមញ្ញត្ថញ្ច ព្រហ្មញ្ញត្ថញ្ច ទិដ្ឋេវ ធម្មេ សយំ អភិញ្ញា សច្ឆិកត្វា ឧបសម្បជ្ជ វិហរន្តី”តិ។
There are ascetics and brahmins who do truly understand the gratification, drawback, and escape when it comes to possessions, honor, and popularity. I deem them as true ascetics and brahmins. Those venerables realize the goal of life as an ascetic or brahmin, and live having realized it with their own insight.”
