សាវត្ថិយំ វិហរតិ។
At Sāvatthī.
“ទារុណោ, ភិក្ខវេ, លាភសក្ការសិលោកោ …បេ…
“Possessions, honor, and popularity are brutal …
ឥធាហំ, ភិក្ខវេ, ឯកច្ចំ បុគ្គលំ ឯវំ ចេតសា ចេតោ បរិច្ច បជានាមិ: ‘ន ចាយមាយស្មា រូបិយបាតិយាបិ សុវណ្ណចុណ្ណបរិបូរាយ ហេតុ សម្បជានមុសា ភាសេយ្យាៜតិ។ តមេនំ បស្សាមិ អបរេន សមយេន លាភសក្ការសិលោកេន អភិភូតំ បរិយាទិណ្ណចិត្តំ សម្បជានមុសា ភាសន្តំ។
When I’ve comprehended the mind of a certain person, I understand: ‘This venerable would not tell a deliberate lie even for the sake of a silver bowl filled with gold powder.’ But some time later I see them tell a deliberate lie because their mind is overcome and overwhelmed by possessions, honor, and popularity.
ឯវំ ទារុណោ ខោ, ភិក្ខវេ, លាភសក្ការសិលោកោ …បេ… ឯវញ្ហិ វោ, ភិក្ខវេ, សិក្ខិតព្ពន៑”តិ។
So brutal are possessions, honor, and popularity. …”
