A Fleecy Sheep
សាវត្ថិយំ វិហរតិ។
At Sāvatthī.
“ទារុណោ, ភិក្ខវេ, លាភសក្ការសិលោកោ …បេ… អធិគមាយ។
“Possessions, honor, and popularity are brutal …
សេយ្យថាបិ, ភិក្ខវេ, ទីឃលោមិកា ឯឡកា កណ្ដកគហនំ បវិសេយ្យ។ សា តត្រ តត្រ សជ្ជេយ្យ, តត្រ តត្រ គយ្ហេយ្យ, តត្រ តត្រ ពជ្ឈេយ្យ, តត្រ តត្រ អនយព្យសនំ អាបជ្ជេយ្យ។
Suppose a fleecy sheep was to enter a briar patch. She’d get caught, snagged, and trapped at every turn, coming to ruin.
ឯវមេវ ខោ, ភិក្ខវេ, ឥធេកច្ចោ ភិក្ខុ លាភសក្ការសិលោកេន អភិភូតោ បរិយាទិណ្ណចិត្តោ បុព្ពណ្ហសមយំ និវាសេត្វា បត្តចីវរមាទាយ គាមំ វា និគមំ វា បិណ្ឌាយ បវិសតិ។ សោ តត្រ តត្រ សជ្ជតិ, តត្រ តត្រ គយ្ហតិ, តត្រ តត្រ ពជ្ឈតិ, តត្រ តត្រ អនយព្យសនំ អាបជ្ជតិ។
In the same way, take a certain bhikkhu whose mind is overcome and overwhelmed by possessions, honor, and popularity. They robe up in the morning and, taking their bowl and robe, enter the village or town for alms. They get caught, snagged, and trapped at every turn, coming to ruin.
ឯវំ ទារុណោ ខោ, ភិក្ខវេ, លាភសក្ការសិលោកោ …បេ… ឯវញ្ហិ វោ, ភិក្ខវេ, សិក្ខិតព្ពន៑”តិ។
So brutal are possessions, honor, and popularity. …”
