ពារាណសិយំ វិហរន្តិ ឥសិបតនេ មិគទាយេ។ អថ ខោ អាយស្មា សារិបុត្តោ សាយន្ហសមយំ …បេ… ឯកមន្តំ និសិន្នោ ខោ អាយស្មា សារិបុត្តោ អាយស្មន្តំ មហាកោដ្ឋិកំ ឯតទវោច:
At Varanasi. Sāriputta said to Mahākoṭṭhita:
“‘អវិជ្ជា, អវិជ្ជាៜតិ, អាវុសោ កោដ្ឋិក, វុច្ចតិ។ កតមា នុ ខោ, អាវុសោ, អវិជ្ជា; កិត្តាវតា ច អវិជ្ជាគតោ ហោតី”តិ?
“Friend Koṭṭhita, they speak of this thing called ‘ignorance’. What is ignorance? And how is an ignorant person defined?”
“ឥធាវុសោ, អស្សុតវា បុថុជ្ជនោ រូបស្ស អស្សាទញ្ច អាទីនវញ្ច និស្សរណញ្ច យថាភូតំ នប្បជានាតិ។ វេទនាយ …បេ… សញ្ញាយ … សង្ខារានំ … វិញ្ញាណស្ស អស្សាទញ្ច អាទីនវញ្ច និស្សរណញ្ច យថាភូតំ នប្បជានាតិ។
“Friend, an unlearned ordinary person doesn’t truly understand the gratification, the drawback, and the escape when it comes to form, feeling, perception, functioning patterns, and consciousness.
អយំ វុច្ចតាវុសោ, អវិជ្ជា; ឯត្តាវតា ច អវិជ្ជាគតោ ហោតី”តិ។
This is called ignorance. And this is how an ignorant person is defined.”
ឯវំ វុត្តេ, អាយស្មា សារិបុត្តោ អាយស្មន្តំ មហាកោដ្ឋិកំ ឯតទវោច:
When he said this, Venerable Sāriputta said to him:
“‘វិជ្ជា, វិជ្ជាៜតិ, អាវុសោ កោដ្ឋិក, វុច្ចតិ។ កតមា នុ ខោ, អាវុសោ, វិជ្ជា; កិត្តាវតា ច វិជ្ជាគតោ ហោតី”តិ?
“Friend Koṭṭhita, they speak of this thing called ‘knowledge’. What is knowledge? And how is a knowledgeable person defined?”
“ឥធាវុសោ, សុតវា អរិយសាវកោ រូបស្ស អស្សាទញ្ច អាទីនវញ្ច និស្សរណញ្ច យថាភូតំ បជានាតិ។ វេទនាយ …បេ… សញ្ញាយ … សង្ខារានំ … វិញ្ញាណស្ស អស្សាទញ្ច អាទីនវញ្ច និស្សរណញ្ច យថាភូតំ បជានាតិ។
“Friend, a learned noble disciple truly understands the gratification, the drawback, and the escape when it comes to form, feeling, perception, functioning patterns, and consciousness.
អយំ វុច្ចតាវុសោ, វិជ្ជា; ឯត្តាវតា ច វិជ្ជាគតោ ហោតី”តិ។
This is called knowledge. And this is how a knowledgeable person is defined.”
