ឯកមន្តំ និសិន្នោ ខោ អាយស្មា មហាកោដ្ឋិកោ អាយស្មន្តំ សារិបុត្តំ ឯតទវោច:
Mahākoṭṭhita said to Sāriputta:
“‘វិជ្ជា, វិជ្ជាៜតិ, អាវុសោ សារិបុត្ត, វុច្ចតិ។ កតមា នុ ខោ, អាវុសោ, វិជ្ជា; កិត្តាវតា ច វិជ្ជាគតោ ហោតី”តិ?
“Friend Sāriputta, they speak of this thing called ‘knowledge’. What is knowledge? And how is a knowledgeable person defined?”
“ឥធាវុសោ, សុតវា អរិយសាវកោ សមុទយធម្មំ រូបំ ‘សមុទយធម្មំ រូបន៑ៜតិ យថាភូតំ បជានាតិ; វយធម្មំ រូបំ …បេ… សមុទយវយធម្មំ រូបំ ‘សមុទយវយធម្មំ រូបន៑ៜតិ យថាភូតំ បជានាតិ;
“Friend, it’s when a learned noble disciple truly understands form, which is liable to originate … liable to vanish … liable to originate and vanish, as form which is liable to originate and vanish.
សមុទយធម្មំ វេទនំ …បេ… សមុទយវយធម្មា វេទនា … សមុទយធម្មំ សញ្ញំ …បេ… សមុទយធម្មេ សង្ខារេ … វយធម្មេ សង្ខារេ … សមុទយវយធម្មេ សង្ខារេ ‘សមុទយវយធម្មា សង្ខារាៜតិ យថាភូតំ បជានាតិ។ សមុទយធម្មំ វិញ្ញាណំ … វយធម្មំ វិញ្ញាណំ … សមុទយវយធម្មំ វិញ្ញាណំ ‘សមុទយវយធម្មំ វិញ្ញាណន៑ៜតិ យថាភូតំ បជានាតិ។
They truly understand feeling … perception … functioning patterns … consciousness, which is liable to originate … liable to vanish … liable to originate and vanish, as consciousness which is liable to originate and vanish.
អយំ វុច្ចតាវុសោ, វិជ្ជា; ឯត្តាវតា ច វិជ្ជាគតោ ហោតី”តិ។
This is called knowledge. And this is how a knowledgeable person is defined.”
