“จตูหิ, ภิกฺขเว, องฺเคหิ สมนฺนาคโต รญฺโญ ภโทฺร อสฺสาชานีโย ราชารโห โหติ ราชโภคฺโค, รญฺโญ องฺคนฺเตว สงฺขํ คจฺฉติฯ กตเมหิ จตูหิ? อชฺชเวน, ชเวน, ขนฺติยา, โสรจฺเจน—อิเมหิ โข, ภิกฺขเว, จตูหิ องฺเคหิ สมนฺนาคโต รญฺโญ ภโทฺร อสฺสาชานีโย ราชารโห โหติ, ราชโภคฺโค, รญฺโญ องฺคนฺเตว สงฺขํ คจฺฉติฯ
“Bhikkhus, a fine royal thoroughbred with four factors is worthy of a king, fit to serve a king, and considered a factor of kingship. What four? Integrity, speed, patience, and sweetness. A fine royal thoroughbred with these four factors is worthy of a king. …
เอวเมวํ โข, ภิกฺขเว, จตูหิ ธมฺเมหิ สมนฺนาคโต ภิกฺขุ อาหุเนโยฺย โหติ …เป… อนุตฺตรํ ปุญฺญกฺเขตฺตํ โลกสฺสฯ กตเมหิ จตูหิ? อชฺชเวน, ชเวน, ขนฺติยา, โสรจฺเจน—อิเมหิ โข, ภิกฺขเว, จตูหิ ธมฺเมหิ สมนฺนาคโต ภิกฺขุ อาหุเนโยฺย โหติ …เป… อนุตฺตรํ ปุญฺญกฺเขตฺตํ โลกสฺสา”ติฯ
In the same way, a bhikkhu with four qualities is worthy of offerings dedicated to the gods, worthy of hospitality, worthy of a religious donation, worthy of veneration with joined palms, and is the supreme field of merit for the world.
