ဗာရာဏသိယံ ဝိဟရန္တိ ဣသိပတနေ မိဂဒါယေ …ပေ… ဧကမန္တံ နိသိန္နော ခေါ အာယသ္မာ မဟာကောဋ္ဌိကော အာယသ္မန္တံ သာရိပုတ္တံ ဧတဒဝေါစ:
At Varanasi. Mahākoṭṭhita said to Sāriputta:
“‘ဝိဇ္ဇာ, ဝိဇ္ဇာ'တိ, အာဝုသော သာရိပုတ္တ, ဝုစ္စတိ၊ ကတမာ နု ခေါ, အာဝုသော, ဝိဇ္ဇာ; ကိတ္တာဝတာ စ ဝိဇ္ဇာဂတော ဟောတီ”တိ?
“Friend Sāriputta, they speak of this thing called ‘knowledge’. What is knowledge? And how is a knowledgeable person defined?”
“ဣဓာဝုသော, သုတဝါ အရိယသာဝကော ရူပဿ သမုဒယဉ္စ အတ္ထင်္ဂမဉ္စ အဿာဒဉ္စ အာဒီနဝဉ္စ နိဿရဏဉ္စ ယထာဘူတံ ပဇာနာတိ၊ ဝေဒနာယ …ပေ… သညာယ … သင်္ခါရာနံ … ဝိညာဏဿ သမုဒယဉ္စ အတ္ထင်္ဂမဉ္စ အဿာဒဉ္စ အာဒီနဝဉ္စ နိဿရဏဉ္စ ယထာဘူတံ ပဇာနာတိ၊
“Friend, a learned noble disciple truly understands the origin, the ending, the gratification, the drawback, and the escape when it comes to form, feeling, perception, functioning patterns, and consciousness.
အယံ ဝုစ္စတာဝုသော, ဝိဇ္ဇာ; ဧတ္တာဝတာ စ ဝိဇ္ဇာဂတော ဟောတီ”တိ၊
This is called knowledge. And this is how a knowledgeable person is defined.”
