အထ ခေါ ဘဂဝါ ပရိတ္တံ နခသိခါယံ ပံသုံ အာရောပေတွာ ဘိက္ခူ အာမန္တေသိ: “တံ ကိံ မညထ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ကတမံ နု ခေါ ဗဟုတရံ—ယော ဝါယံ မယာ ပရိတ္တော နခသိခါယံ ပံသု အာရောပိတော, အယံ ဝါ မဟာပထဝီ”တိ?
Then the Buddha, picking up a little bit of dirt under his fingernail, addressed the bhikkhus: “What do you think, bhikkhus? Which is more: the little bit of dirt under my fingernail, or this great earth?”
“ဧတဒေဝ, ဘန္တေ, ဗဟုတရံ, ယဒိဒံ—မဟာပထဝီ; အပ္ပမတ္တကာယံ ဘဂဝတာ ပရိတ္တော နခသိခါယံ ပံသု အာရောပိတော၊ သင်္ခမ္ပိ န ဥပေတိ, ဥပနိဓမ္ပိ န ဥပေတိ, ကလဘာဂမ္ပိ န ဥပေတိ မဟာပထဝိံ ဥပနိဓာယ ဘဂဝတာ ပရိတ္တော နခသိခါယံ ပံသု အာရောပိတော”တိ၊
“Sir, the great earth is certainly more. The little bit of dirt under your fingernail is tiny. Compared to the great earth, it doesn’t count, there’s no comparison, it’s not worth a fraction.”
“ဧဝမေဝ ခေါ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, အပ္ပမတ္တကာ တေ သတ္တာ ယေ မနုဿေသု ပစ္စာဇာယန္တိ; အထ ခေါ ဧတေဝ ဗဟုတရာ သတ္တာ ယေ အညတြ မနုဿေဟိ ပစ္စာဇာယန္တိ၊ တံ ကိဿ ဟေတု? အဒိဋ္ဌတ္တာ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, စတုန္နံ အရိယသစ္စာနံ၊ ကတမေသံ စတုန္နံ? ဒုက္ခဿ အရိယသစ္စဿ …ပေ… ဒုက္ခနိရောဓဂါမိနိယာ ပဋိပဒါယ အရိယသစ္စဿ၊
“In the same way, the sentient beings reborn as humans are few, while those not reborn as humans are many. Why is that? It’s because they haven’t seen the four noble truths. What four? The noble truths of suffering, its origin, its cessation, and the path.
တသ္မာတိဟ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ‘ဣဒံ ဒုက္ခန်'တိ ယောဂေါ ကရဏီယော …ပေ… ‘အယံ ဒုက္ခနိရောဓဂါမိနီ ပဋိပဒါ'တိ ယောဂေါ ကရဏီယော”တိ၊
