အထ ခေါ အာယသ္မာ သာရိပုတ္တော ယေန ဘဂဝါ တေနုပသင်္ကမိ; ဥပသင်္ကမိတွာ ဘဂဝန္တံ အဘိဝါဒေတွာ ဧကမန္တံ နိသီဒိ၊ ဧကမန္တံ နိသိန္နော ခေါ အာယသ္မာ သာရိပုတ္တော ဘဂဝန္တံ ဧတဒဝေါစ:
Then Venerable Sāriputta went up to the Buddha, bowed, sat down to one side, and said to him:
“ကော နု ခေါ, ဘန္တေ, ဟေတု ကော ပစ္စယော, ယေန မိဓေကစ္စဿ တာဒိသာဝ ဝဏိဇ္ဇာ ပယုတ္တာ ဆေဒဂါမိနီ ဟောတိ? ကော ပန, ဘန္တေ, ဟေတု ကော ပစ္စယော, ယေန မိဓေကစ္စဿ တာဒိသာဝ ဝဏိဇ္ဇာ ပယုတ္တာ န ယထာဓိပ္ပါယာ ဟောတိ? ကော နု ခေါ, ဘန္တေ, ဟေတု ကော ပစ္စယော, ယေန မိဓေကစ္စဿ တာဒိသာဝ ဝဏိဇ္ဇာ ပယုတ္တာ ယထာဓိပ္ပါယာ ဟောတိ? ကော ပန, ဘန္တေ, ဟေတု ကော ပစ္စယော, ယေန မိဓေကစ္စဿ တာဒိသာဝ ဝဏိဇ္ဇာ ပယုတ္တာ ပရာဓိပ္ပါယာ ဟောတီ”တိ?
“Sir, what is the cause, what is the reason why for different people the same kind of business undertaking might fail, while another doesn’t meet expectations, another meets expectations, and another exceeds expectations?”
“ဣဓ, သာရိပုတ္တ, ဧကစ္စော သမဏံ ဝါ ဗြာဟ္မဏံ ဝါ ဥပသင်္ကမိတွာ ပဝါရေတိ: ‘ဝဒတု, ဘန္တေ, ပစ္စယေနာ'တိ၊ သော ယေန ပဝါရေတိ တံ န ဒေတိ၊ သော စေ တတော စုတော ဣတ္ထတ္တံ အာဂစ္ဆတိ, သော ယညဒေဝ ဝဏိဇ္ဇံ ပယောဇေတိ, သာဿ ဟောတိ ဆေဒဂါမိနီ၊
“Sāriputta, take a case where someone goes to an ascetic or brahmin and invites them to ask for what they need. But they fail to give what’s requested. When they’ve passed away from that life, if they’re reborn in this state of existence, whatever business they undertake fails.
ဣဓ ပန, သာရိပုတ္တ, ဧကစ္စော သမဏံ ဝါ ဗြာဟ္မဏံ ဝါ ဥပသင်္ကမိတွာ ပဝါရေတိ: ‘ဝဒတု, ဘန္တေ, ပစ္စယေနာ'တိ၊ သော ယေန ပဝါရေတိ တံ န ယထာဓိပ္ပါယံ ဒေတိ၊ သော စေ တတော စုတော ဣတ္ထတ္တံ အာဂစ္ဆတိ, သော ယညဒေဝ ဝဏိဇ္ဇံ ပယောဇေတိ, သာဿ န ဟောတိ ယထာဓိပ္ပါယာ၊
Take a case where someone goes to an ascetic or brahmin and invites them to ask for what they need. They give what’s requested, but don’t meet expectations. When they’ve passed away from that life, if they’re reborn in this state of existence, whatever business they undertake doesn’t meet expectations.
