ဧကံ သမယံ ဘဂဝါ ကောသမ္ဗိယံ ဝိဟရတိ ဃောသိတာရာမေ၊ အထ ခေါ အာယသ္မာ အာနန္ဒော ယေန ဘဂဝါ တေနုပသင်္ကမိ; ဥပသင်္ကမိတွာ ဘဂဝန္တံ အဘိဝါဒေတွာ ဧကမန္တံ နိသီဒိ၊ ဧကမန္တံ နိသိန္နော ခေါ အာယသ္မာ အာနန္ဒော ဘဂဝန္တံ ဧတဒဝေါစ:
At one time the Buddha was staying near Kosambī, in Ghosita’s Monastery. Then Venerable Ānanda went up to the Buddha, bowed, sat down to one side, and said to him:
“ကော နု ခေါ, ဘန္တေ, ဟေတု ကော ပစ္စယော, ယေန မာတုဂါမော နေဝ သဘာယံ နိသီဒတိ, န ကမ္မန္တံ ပယောဇေတိ, န ကမ္ဗောဇံ ဂစ္ဆတီ”တိ?
“Sir, what is the cause, what is the reason why females don’t attend council meetings, work for a living, or travel to Persia?”
“ကောဓနော, အာနန္ဒ, မာတုဂါမော; ဣဿုကီ, အာနန္ဒ, မာတုဂါမော; မစ္ဆရီ, အာနန္ဒ, မာတုဂါမော; ဒုပ္ပညော, အာနန္ဒ, မာတုဂါမော—အယံ ခေါ, အာနန္ဒ, ဟေတု အယံ ပစ္စယော, ယေန မာတုဂါမော နေဝ သဘာယံ နိသီဒတိ, န ကမ္မန္တံ ပယောဇေတိ, န ကမ္ဗောဇံ ဂစ္ဆတီ”တိ၊
“Ānanda, females are irritable, jealous, stingy, and unintelligent. This is the cause, this is the reason why females don’t attend council meetings, work for a living, or travel to Persia.”

တဿုဒ္ဒါနံ
