ឯកំ សមយំ ភគវា សាវត្ថិយំ វិហរតិ ជេតវនេ អនាថបិណ្ឌិកស្ស អារាមេ។ អថ ខោ អញ្ញតរោ ភិក្ខុ យេន ភគវា តេនុបសង្កមិ; ឧបសង្កមិត្វា ឯកមន្តំ និសីទិ។ ឯកមន្តំ និសិន្នោ ខោ សោ ភិក្ខុ ភគវន្តំ ឯតទវោច:
At one time the Buddha was staying near Sāvatthī in Jeta’s Grove, Anāthapiṇḍika’s monastery. Then a bhikkhu went up to the Buddha, sat down to one side, and said to him:
“កោ នុ ខោ, ភន្តេ, ហេតុ, កោ បច្ចយោ, យេន ម៑ៜឥធេកច្ចេ អណ្ឌជា នាគា ឧបោសថំ ឧបវសន្តិ វោស្សដ្ឋកាយា ច ភវន្តី”តិ?
“Sir, what is the cause, what is the reason why some egg-born dragons keep the Uposatha day, having transformed their bodies?”
“ឥធ, ភិក្ខុ, ឯកច្ចានំ អណ្ឌជានំ នាគានំ ឯវំ ហោតិ: ‘មយំ ខោ បុព្ពេ កាយេន ទ្វយការិនោ អហុម្ហ, វាចាយ ទ្វយការិនោ, មនសា ទ្វយការិនោ។ តេ មយំ កាយេន ទ្វយការិនោ, វាចាយ ទ្វយការិនោ, មនសា ទ្វយការិនោ, កាយស្ស ភេទា បរំ មរណា អណ្ឌជានំ នាគានំ សហព្យតំ ឧបបន្នា។ សចជ្ជ មយំ កាយេន សុចរិតំ ចរេយ្យាម, វាចាយ សុចរិតំ ចរេយ្យាម, មនសា សុចរិតំ ចរេយ្យាម, ឯវំ មយំ កាយស្ស ភេទា បរំ មរណា សុគតិំ សគ្គំ លោកំ ឧបបជ្ជេយ្យាម។ ហន្ទ មយំ ឯតរហិ កាយេន សុចរិតំ ចរាម, វាចាយ សុចរិតំ ចរាម, មនសា សុចរិតំ ចរាមាៜតិ។ អយំ ខោ, ភិក្ខុ, ហេតុ, អយំ បច្ចយោ, យេន ម៑ៜឥធេកច្ចេ អណ្ឌជា នាគា ឧបោសថំ ឧបវសន្តិ វោស្សដ្ឋកាយា ច ភវន្តី”តិ។
“Bhikkhu, it’s when some egg-born dragons think: ‘In the past we did both kinds of deeds by body, speech, and mind. When the body broke up, after death, we were reborn in the company of the egg-born dragons. If today we do good things by body, speech, and mind, when the body breaks up, after death, we may be reborn in a good place, a heavenly realm. Come, let us do good things by way of body, speech, and mind.’ This is the cause, this is the reason why some egg-born dragons keep the Uposatha day, having transformed their bodies.”
