The Attainment of Cessation
សាវត្ថិនិទានំ។
At Sāvatthī.
អថ ខោ អាយស្មា សារិបុត្តោ …បេ…។
Venerable Ānanda saw Venerable Sāriputta …
“ឥធាហំ, អាវុសោ, សព្ពសោ នេវសញ្ញានាសញ្ញាយតនំ សមតិក្កម្ម សញ្ញាវេទយិតនិរោធំ ឧបសម្បជ្ជ វិហរាមិ។ តស្ស មយ្ហំ, អាវុសោ, ន ឯវំ ហោតិ: ‘អហំ សញ្ញាវេទយិតនិរោធំ សមាបជ្ជាមីៜតិ វា ‘អហំ សញ្ញាវេទយិតនិរោធំ សមាបន្នោៜតិ វា ‘អហំ សញ្ញាវេទយិតនិរោធា វុដ្ឋិតោៜតិ វា”តិ។
“Friend, going totally beyond the dimension of neither perception nor non-perception, I entered and remained in the cessation of perception and feeling. But it didn’t occur to me: ‘I am entering the cessation of perception and feeling’ or ‘I have entered the cessation of perception and feeling’ or ‘I am emerging from the cessation of perception and feeling’.”
តថា ហិ បនាយស្មតោ សារិបុត្តស្ស ទីឃរត្តំ អហង្ការមមង្ការមានានុសយា សុសមូហតា។ តស្មា អាយស្មតោ សារិបុត្តស្ស ន ឯវំ ហោតិ: “‘អហំ សញ្ញាវេទយិតនិរោធំ សមាបជ្ជាមីៜតិ វា ‘អហំ សញ្ញាវេទយិតនិរោធំ សមាបន្នោៜតិ វា ‘អហំ សញ្ញាវេទយិតនិរោធា វុដ្ឋិតោៜតិ វា”តិ។
“That must be because Venerable Sāriputta has long ago totally eradicated ego, possessiveness, and the underlying tendency to conceit. That’s why it didn’t occur to you: ‘I am entering the cessation of perception and feeling’ or ‘I have entered the cessation of perception and feeling’ or ‘I am emerging from the cessation of perception and feeling’.”
