A Sword

သာဝတ္ထိနိဒါနံ၊

At Sāvatthī.

ဧကမန္တံ ဌိတာ ခေါ သာ ဒေဝတာ ဘဂဝတော သန္တိကေ ဣမံ ဂါထံ အဘာသိ:

Standing to one side, that deity recited this verse in the Buddha’s presence:

“သတ္တိယာ ဝိယ ဩမဋ္ဌော, ဍယှမာနောဝ မတ္ထကေ; ကာမရာဂပ္ပဟာနာယ, သတော ဘိက္ခု ပရိဗ္ဗဇေ”တိ၊

“Like they’re struck by a sword, like their head was on fire, a bhikkhu, mindful, should go forth, to give up sensual desire.”

“သတ္တိယာ ဝိယ ဩမဋ္ဌော, ဍယှမာနောဝ မတ္ထကေ; သက္ကာယဒိဋ္ဌိပ္ပဟာနာယ, သတော ဘိက္ခု ပရိဗ္ဗဇေ”တိ၊

“Like they’re struck by a sword, like their head was on fire, a bhikkhu, mindful, should go forth, to give up identity view.”
