“පඤ්චහි, භික්ඛවේ, ධම්මේහි සමන්නාගතෝ ථේරෝ භික්ඛු සබ්රහ්මචාරීනං අප්පියෝ ච හෝති අමනාපෝ ච අගරු ච අභාවනීයෝ ච. කතමේහි පඤ්චහි? කුහකෝ ච හෝති, ලපකෝ ච, නේමිත්තිකෝ ච, නිප්පේසිකෝ ච, ලාභේන ච ලාභං නිජිගීසිතා—ඉමේහි ඛෝ, භික්ඛවේ, පඤ්චහි ධම්මේහි සමන්නාගතෝ ථේරෝ භික්ඛු සබ්රහ්මචාරීනං අප්පියෝ ච හෝති අමනාපෝ ච අගරු ච අභාවනීයෝ ච.
“Bhikkhus, a senior bhikkhu with five qualities is unlikable and unlovable to their spiritual companions, not respected or admired. What five? They use deceit, flattery, hinting, and belittling, and they use material possessions to chase after other material possessions. A senior bhikkhu with these five qualities is unlikable and unlovable to their spiritual companions, not respected or admired.
පඤ්චහි, භික්ඛවේ, ධම්මේහි සමන්නාගතෝ ථේරෝ භික්ඛු සබ්රහ්මචාරීනං පියෝ ච හෝති මනාපෝ ච ගරු ච භාවනීයෝ ච. කතමේහි පඤ්චහි? න ච කුහකෝ හෝති, න ච ලපකෝ, න ච නේමිත්තිකෝ, න ච නිප්පේසිකෝ, න ච ලාභේන ලාභං නිජිගීසිතා—ඉමේහි ඛෝ, භික්ඛවේ, පඤ්චහි ධම්මේහි සමන්නාගතෝ ථේරෝ භික්ඛු සබ්රහ්මචාරීනං පියෝ ච හෝති මනාපෝ ච ගරු ච භාවනීයෝ චා”ති.
A senior bhikkhu with five qualities is dear and beloved to their spiritual companions, respected and admired. What five?
