With Kimbila
เอกํ สมยํ ภควา กิมิลายํ วิหรติ เวฬุวเนฯ อถ โข อายสฺมา กิมิโล เยน ภควา เตนุปสงฺกมิ; อุปสงฺกมิตฺวา ภควนฺตํ อภิวาเทตฺวา เอกมนฺตํ นิสีทิฯ เอกมนฺตํ นิสินฺโน โข อายสฺมา กิมิโล ภควนฺตํ เอตทโวจ:
At one time the Buddha was staying near Kimbilā in the Freshwater Mangrove Wood. Then Venerable Kimbila went up to the Buddha, bowed, sat down to one side, and said to him:
“โก นุ โข, ภนฺเต, เหตุ โก ปจฺจโย, เยน ตถาคเต ปรินิพฺพุเต สทฺธมฺโม น จิรฏฺฐิติโก โหตี”ติ?
“What is the cause, sir, what is the reason why the true teaching does not last long after the final Nibbana of the Realized One?”
“อิธ, กิมิล, ตถาคเต ปรินิพฺพุเต ภิกฺขู ภิกฺขุนิโย อุปาสกา อุปาสิกาโย สตฺถริ อคารวา วิหรนฺติ อปฺปติสฺสา, ธมฺเม อคารวา วิหรนฺติ อปฺปติสฺสา, สงฺเฆ อคารวา วิหรนฺติ อปฺปติสฺสา, สิกฺขาย อคารวา วิหรนฺติ อปฺปติสฺสา, อญฺญมญฺญํ อคารวา วิหรนฺติ อปฺปติสฺสาฯ อยํ โข, กิมิล, เหตุ อยํ ปจฺจโย, เยน ตถาคเต ปรินิพฺพุเต สทฺธมฺโม น จิรฏฺฐิติโก โหตี”ติฯ
“Kimbila, it’s when the monks, nuns, laymen, and laywomen lack respect and reverence for the Teacher, the teaching, the Saṅgha, the training, and each other after the final Nibbana of the Realized One. This is the cause, this is the reason why the true teaching does not last long after the final Nibbana of the Realized One.”
“โก ปน, ภนฺเต, เหตุ โก ปจฺจโย, เยน ตถาคเต ปรินิพฺพุเต สทฺธมฺโม จิรฏฺฐิติโก โหตี”ติ?

“อิธ, กิมิล, ตถาคเต ปรินิพฺพุเต ภิกฺขู ภิกฺขุนิโย อุปาสกา อุปาสิกาโย สตฺถริ สคารวา วิหรนฺติ สปฺปติสฺสา, ธมฺเม สคารวา วิหรนฺติ สปฺปติสฺสา, สงฺเฆ สคารวา วิหรนฺติ สปฺปติสฺสา, สิกฺขาย สคารวา วิหรนฺติ สปฺปติสฺสา, อญฺญมญฺญํ สคารวา วิหรนฺติ สปฺปติสฺสาฯ อยํ โข, กิมิล, เหตุ อยํ ปจฺจโย, เยน ตถาคเต ปรินิพฺพุเต สทฺธมฺโม จิรฏฺฐิติโก โหตี”ติฯ
