กถาปวตฺติสุตฺต
When Conversation Flows
“ตีหิ, ภิกฺขเว, ฐาเนหิ กถา ปวตฺตินี โหติฯ กตเมหิ ตีหิ? โย ธมฺมํ เทเสติ โส อตฺถปฺปฏิสํเวที จ โหติ ธมฺมปฺปฏิสํเวที จฯ โย ธมฺมํ สุณาติ โส อตฺถปฺปฏิสํเวที จ โหติ ธมฺมปฺปฏิสํเวที จฯ โย เจว ธมฺมํ เทเสติ โย จ ธมฺมํ สุณาติ อุโภ อตฺถปฺปฏิสํเวทิโน จ โหนฺติ ธมฺมปฺปฏิสํเวทิโน จฯ อิเมหิ โข, ภิกฺขเว, ตีหิ ฐาเนหิ กถา ปวตฺตินี โหตี”ติฯ
“In three situations, bhikkhus, conversation flows. What three? When the teacher feels deeply the meaning and the fundamental truth of the teaching. When the audience feels deeply the meaning and the fundamental truth of the teaching. When both the teacher and the audience feel deeply the meaning and the fundamental truth of the teaching. These are the three situations in which conversation flows.”
