“จตฺตาริมานิ, ภิกฺขเว, นาคติคมนานิฯ กตมานิ จตฺตาริ? น ฉนฺทาคตึ คจฺฉติ, น โทสาคตึ คจฺฉติ, น โมหาคตึ คจฺฉติ, น ภยาคตึ คจฺฉติ—อิมานิ โข, ภิกฺขเว, จตฺตาริ นาคติคมนานีติฯ
“Bhikkhus, there are these four ways of making unprejudiced decisions. What four? Making decisions unprejudiced by favoritism, hostility, stupidity, and cowardice. These are the four ways of making unprejudiced decisions.
ฉนฺทา โทสา ภยา โมหา, โย ธมฺมํ นาติวตฺตติ; อาปูรติ ตสฺส ยโส, สุกฺกปกฺเขว จนฺทิมา”ติฯ
If you don’t act against the teaching out of favoritism, hostility, cowardice, and stupidity, your fame swells, like the moon in the waxing fortnight.”
