“ตโยเม, ภิกฺขเว, ธมฺมาฯ กตเม ตโย? อรติ, วิหึสา, อธมฺมจริยาฯ อิเม โข, ภิกฺขเว, ตโย ธมฺมาฯ อิเมสํ โข, ภิกฺขเว, ติณฺณํ ธมฺมานํ ปหานาย ตโย ธมฺมา ภาเวตพฺพาฯ กตเม ตโย? อรติยา ปหานาย มุทิตา ภาเวตพฺพา, วิหึสาย ปหานาย อวิหึสา ภาเวตพฺพา, อธมฺมจริยาย ปหานาย ธมฺมจริยา ภาเวตพฺพาฯ อิเมสํ โข, ภิกฺขเว, ติณฺณํ ธมฺมานํ ปหานาย อิเม ตโย ธมฺมา ภาเวตพฺพา”ติฯ
“Bhikkhus, there are these three things. What three? Discontent, cruelty, and unprincipled conduct. These are the three things. To give up these three things you should develop three things. What three? You should develop rejoicing to give up discontent, harmlessness to give up cruelty, and principled conduct to give up unprincipled conduct. These are the three things you should develop to give up those three things.”
