“နဝေါပိ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ပေါတ္ထကော ဒုဗ္ဗဏ္ဏော စ ဟောတိ ဒုက္ခသမ္ဖဿော စ အပ္ပဂ္ဃေါ စ; မဇ္ဈိမောပိ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ပေါတ္ထကော ဒုဗ္ဗဏ္ဏော စ ဟောတိ ဒုက္ခသမ္ဖဿော စ အပ္ပဂ္ဃေါ စ; ဇိဏ္ဏောပိ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ပေါတ္ထကော ဒုဗ္ဗဏ္ဏော စ ဟောတိ ဒုက္ခသမ္ဖဿော စ အပ္ပဂ္ဃေါ စ၊ ဇိဏ္ဏမ္ပိ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ပေါတ္ထကံ ဥက္ခလိပရိမဇ္ဇနံ ဝါ ကရောန္တိ သင်္ကာရကူဋေ ဝါ နံ ဆဍ္ဍေန္တိ၊
“Jute canvas is ugly, unpleasant to touch, and worthless whether it’s new, worn in, or worn out. They use worn out jute canvas for scrubbing pots, or else they just throw it away on the rubbish heap.
ဧဝမေဝံ ခေါ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, နဝေါ စေပိ ဘိက္ခု ဟောတိ ဒုဿီလော ပါပဓမ္မော၊ ဣဒမဿ ဒုဗ္ဗဏ္ဏတာယ ဝဒါမိ၊ သေယျထာပိ သော, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ပေါတ္ထကော ဒုဗ္ဗဏ္ဏော တထူပမာဟံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဣမံ ပုဂ္ဂလံ ဝဒါမိ၊ ယေ ခေါ ပနဿ သေဝန္တိ ဘဇန္တိ ပယိရုပါသန္တိ ဒိဋ္ဌာနုဂတိံ အာပဇ္ဇန္တိ, တေသံ တံ ဟောတိ ဒီဃရတ္တံ အဟိတာယ ဒုက္ခာယ၊ ဣဒမဿ ဒုက္ခသမ္ဖဿတာယ ဝဒါမိ၊ သေယျထာပိ သော, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ပေါတ္ထကော ဒုက္ခသမ္ဖဿော တထူပမာဟံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဣမံ ပုဂ္ဂလံ ဝဒါမိ၊ ယေသံ ခေါ ပန သော ပဋိဂ္ဂဏှာတိ စီဝရပိဏ္ဍပါတသေနာသနဂိလာနပ္ပစ္စယဘေသဇ္ဇပရိက္ခာရံ, တေသံ တံ န မဟပ္ဖလံ ဟောတိ န မဟာနိသံသံ၊ ဣဒမဿ အပ္ပဂ္ဃတာယ ဝဒါမိ၊ သေယျထာပိ သော, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ပေါတ္ထကော အပ္ပဂ္ဃေါ တထူပမာဟံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဣမံ ပုဂ္ဂလံ ဝဒါမိ၊
In the same way, if a junior bhikkhu is unethical, of bad character, this is how they’re ugly, I say. That person is just as ugly as jute canvas. If you associate with, accompany, and attend to that person, following their example, it’ll be for your lasting harm and suffering. This is how they’re unpleasant to touch, I say. That person is just as unpleasant to touch as jute canvas. Any robes, almsfood, lodgings, and medicines and supplies for the sick that they receive are not very fruitful or beneficial for the donor. This is how they’re worthless, I say. That person is just as worthless as jute canvas.

ဧဝရူပေါ စာယံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ထေရော ဘိက္ခု သင်္ဃမဇ္ဈေ ဘဏတိ၊ တမေနံ ဘိက္ခူ ဧဝမာဟံသု: ‘ကိံ နု ခေါ တုယှံ ဗာလဿ အဗျတ္တဿ ဘဏိတေန, တွမ္ပိ နာမ ဘဏိတဗ္ဗံ မညသီ'တိ၊ သော ကုပိတော အနတ္တမနော တထာရူပိံ ဝါစံ နိစ္ဆာရေတိ ယထာရူပါယ ဝါစာယ သင်္ဃော တံ ဥက္ခိပတိ, သင်္ကာရကူဋေဝ နံ ပေါတ္ထကံ၊
If such a senior bhikkhu speaks among the Saṅgha, the bhikkhus say: ‘What’s an incompetent fool like you got to say? How on earth could you imagine you’ve got something worth saying!’ That person becomes angry and upset, and blurts out things that make the Saṅgha throw them out, as if they were throwing jute canvas away on the rubbish heap.
နဝမ္ပိ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ကာသိကံ ဝတ္ထံ ဝဏ္ဏဝန္တဉ္စေဝ ဟောတိ သုခသမ္ဖဿဉ္စ မဟဂ္ဃဉ္စ; မဇ္ဈိမမ္ပိ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ကာသိကံ ဝတ္ထံ ဝဏ္ဏဝန္တဉ္စေဝ ဟောတိ သုခသမ္ဖဿဉ္စ မဟဂ္ဃဉ္စ; ဇိဏ္ဏမ္ပိ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ကာသိကံ ဝတ္ထံ ဝဏ္ဏဝန္တဉ္စေဝ ဟောတိ သုခသမ္ဖဿဉ္စ မဟဂ္ဃဉ္စ၊ ဇိဏ္ဏမ္ပိ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ကာသိကံ ဝတ္ထံ ရတနပလိဝေဌနံ ဝါ ကရောတိ ဂန္ဓကရဏ္ဍကေ ဝါ နံ ပက္ခိပန္တိ၊
Cloth from Kāsi is beautiful, pleasant to touch, and valuable whether it’s new, worn in, or worn out. They use worn out cloth from Kāsi for wrapping, or else they place it in a fragrant casket.
ဧဝမေဝံ ခေါ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, နဝေါ စေပိ ဘိက္ခု ဟောတိ သီလဝါ ကလျာဏဓမ္မော, ဣဒမဿ သုဝဏ္ဏတာယ ဝဒါမိ၊ သေယျထာပိ တံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ကာသိကံ ဝတ္ထံ ဝဏ္ဏဝန္တံ တထူပမာဟံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဣမံ ပုဂ္ဂလံ ဝဒါမိ၊ ယေ ခေါ ပနဿ သေဝန္တိ ဘဇန္တိ ပယိရုပါသန္တိ ဒိဋ္ဌာနုဂတိံ အာပဇ္ဇန္တိ, တေသံ တံ ဟောတိ ဒီဃရတ္တံ ဟိတာယ သုခါယ၊ ဣဒမဿ သုခသမ္ဖဿတာယ ဝဒါမိ၊ သေယျထာပိ တံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ကာသိကံ ဝတ္ထံ သုခသမ္ဖဿံ တထူပမာဟံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဣမံ ပုဂ္ဂလံ ဝဒါမိ၊ ယေသံ ခေါ ပန သော ပဋိဂ္ဂဏှာတိ စီဝရပိဏ္ဍပါတသေနာသနဂိလာနပ္ပစ္စယဘေသဇ္ဇပရိက္ခာရံ, တေသံ တံ မဟပ္ဖလံ ဟောတိ မဟာနိသံသံ၊ ဣဒမဿ မဟဂ္ဃတာယ ဝဒါမိ၊ သေယျထာပိ တံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ကာသိကံ ဝတ္ထံ မဟဂ္ဃံ တထူပမာဟံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဣမံ ပုဂ္ဂလံ ဝဒါမိ၊
In the same way, if a junior bhikkhu is ethical, of good character, this is how they’re beautiful, I say. That person is just as beautiful as cloth from Kāsi. If you associate with, accompany, and attend to such a person, following their example, it will be for your lasting welfare and happiness. This is how they’re pleasant to touch, I say. That person is just as pleasant to touch as cloth from Kāsi. Any robes, almsfood, lodgings, and medicines and supplies for the sick that they receive are very fruitful and beneficial for the donor. This is how they’re valuable, I say. That person is just as valuable as cloth from Kāsi.

ဧဝရူပေါ စာယံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ထေရော ဘိက္ခု သင်္ဃမဇ္ဈေ ဘဏတိ၊ တမေနံ ဘိက္ခူ ဧဝမာဟံသု: ‘အပ္ပသဒ္ဒါ အာယသ္မန္တော ဟောထ, ထေရော ဘိက္ခု ဓမ္မဉ္စ ဝိနယဉ္စ ဘဏတီ'တိ၊
If such a senior bhikkhu speaks in the midst of the Saṅgha, the bhikkhus say: ‘Venerables, be quiet! The senior bhikkhu is speaking on the teaching and training.’
တသ္မာတိဟ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဧဝံ သိက္ခိတဗ္ဗံ: ‘ကာသိကဝတ္ထူပမာ ဘဝိဿာမ, န ပေါတ္ထကူပမာ'တိ၊ ဧဝဉှိ ဝေါ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, သိက္ခိတဗ္ဗန်”တိ၊
So you should train like this: ‘We will be like cloth from Kāsi, not like jute canvas.’ That’s how you should train.”
