“တီဏိမာနိ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ကဿကဿ ဂဟပတိဿ အစ္စာယိကာနိ ကရဏီယာနိ၊ ကတမာနိ တီဏိ? ဣဓ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ကဿကော ဂဟပတိ သီဃံ သီဃံ ခေတ္တံ သုကဋ္ဌံ ကရောတိ သုမတိကတံ၊ သီဃံ သီဃံ ခေတ္တံ သုကဋ္ဌံ ကရိတွာ သုမတိကတံ သီဃံ သီဃံ ဗီဇာနိ ပတိဋ္ဌာပေတိ၊ သီဃံ သီဃံ ဗီဇာနိ ပတိဋ္ဌာပေတွာ သီဃံ သီဃံ ဥဒကံ အဘိနေတိပိ အပနေတိပိ၊ ဣမာနိ ခေါ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, တီဏိ ကဿကဿ ဂဟပတိဿ အစ္စာယိကာနိ ကရဏီယာနိ၊ တဿ ခေါ တံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ကဿကဿ ဂဟပတိဿ နတ္ထိ သာ ဣဒ္ဓိ ဝါ အာနုဘာဝေါ ဝါ: ‘အဇ္ဇေဝ မေ ဓညာနိ ဇာယန္တု, သွေဝ ဂဗ္ဘီနိ ဟောန္တု, ဥတ္တရသွေဝ ပစ္စန္တူ'တိ၊ အထ ခေါ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဟောတိ သော သမယော ယံ တဿ ကဿကဿ ဂဟပတိဿ တာနိ ဓညာနိ ဥတုပရိဏာမီနိ ဇာယန္တိပိ ဂဗ္ဘီနိပိ ဟောန္တိ ပစ္စန္တိပိ၊
“Bhikkhus, a farmer has three urgent duties. What three? A farmer swiftly makes sure the field is well ploughed and tilled. Next they swiftly plant seeds in season. When the time is right, they swiftly irrigate or drain the field. These are the three urgent duties of a farmer. That farmer has no special power or ability to say: ‘Let the crops germinate today! Let them flower tomorrow! Let them ripen the day after!’ But there comes a time when that farmer’s crops germinate, flower, and ripen as the seasons change.
ဧဝမေဝံ ခေါ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, တီဏိမာနိ ဘိက္ခုဿ အစ္စာယိကာနိ ကရဏီယာနိ၊ ကတမာနိ တီဏိ? အဓိသီလသိက္ခာသမာဒါနံ, အဓိစိတ္တသိက္ခာသမာဒါနံ, အဓိပညာသိက္ခာသမာဒါနံ—ဣမာနိ ခေါ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, တီဏိ ဘိက္ခုဿ အစ္စာယိကာနိ ကရဏီယာနိ၊ တဿ ခေါ တံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဘိက္ခုနော နတ္ထိ သာ ဣဒ္ဓိ ဝါ အာနုဘာဝေါ ဝါ: ‘အဇ္ဇေဝ မေ အနုပါဒါယ အာသဝေဟိ စိတ္တံ ဝိမုစ္စတု သွေ ဝါ ဥတ္တရသွေ ဝါ'တိ၊ အထ ခေါ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဟောတိ သော သမယော ယံ တဿ ဘိက္ခုနော အဓိသီလမ္ပိ သိက္ခတော အဓိစိတ္တမ္ပိ သိက္ခတော အဓိပညမ္ပိ သိက္ခတော အနုပါဒါယ အာသဝေဟိ စိတ္တံ ဝိမုစ္စတိ၊
In the same way, a bhikkhu has three urgent duties. What three? Undertaking the training in the higher ethics, the higher mind, and the higher wisdom. These are the three urgent duties of a bhikkhu. That bhikkhu has no special power or ability to say: ‘Let my mind be freed from defilements by not grasping today! Or tomorrow! Or the day after!’ But there comes a time—as that bhikkhu trains in the higher ethics, the higher mind, and the higher wisdom—that their mind is freed from defilements by not grasping.
တသ္မာတိဟ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဧဝံ သိက္ခိတဗ္ဗံ: ‘တိဗ္ဗော နော ဆန္ဒော ဘဝိဿတိ အဓိသီလသိက္ခာသမာဒါနေ, တိဗ္ဗော ဆန္ဒော ဘဝိဿတိ အဓိစိတ္တသိက္ခာသမာဒါနေ, တိဗ္ဗော ဆန္ဒော ဘဝိဿတိ အဓိပညာသိက္ခာသမာဒါနေ'တိ၊ ဧဝဉှိ ဝေါ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, သိက္ခိတဗ္ဗန်”တိ၊
So you should train like this: ‘We will have keen enthusiasm for undertaking the training in the higher ethics, the higher mind, and the higher wisdom.’ That’s how you should train.”
