“อฏฺฐิเม, ภิกฺขเว, ธมฺมา เสขสฺส ภิกฺขุโน ปริหานาย สํวตฺตนฺติฯ กตเม อฏฺฐ? กมฺมารามตา, ภสฺสารามตา, นิทฺทารามตา, สงฺคณิการามตา, อินฺทฺริเยสุ อคุตฺตทฺวารตา, โภชเน อมตฺตญฺญุตา, สํสคฺคารามตา, ปปญฺจารามตา—อิเม โข, ภิกฺขเว, อฏฺฐ ธมฺมา เสขสฺส ภิกฺขุโน ปริหานาย สํวตฺตนฺติฯ
“These eight things lead to the decline of a bhikkhu trainee. What eight? They relish work, talk, sleep, and company. They don’t guard the sense doors and they eat too much. They relish closeness and proliferation. These eight things lead to the decline of a bhikkhu trainee.
อฏฺฐิเม, ภิกฺขเว, ธมฺมา เสขสฺส ภิกฺขุโน อปริหานาย สํวตฺตนฺติฯ กตเม อฏฺฐ? น กมฺมารามตา, น ภสฺสารามตา, น นิทฺทารามตา, น สงฺคณิการามตา, อินฺทฺริเยสุ คุตฺตทฺวารตา, โภชเน มตฺตญฺญุตา, อสํสคฺคารามตา, นิปฺปปญฺจารามตา—อิเม โข, ภิกฺขเว, อฏฺฐ ธมฺมา เสขสฺส ภิกฺขุโน อปริหานาย สํวตฺตนฺตี”ติฯ
