Mastery of the Mind (2nd)
“สตฺตหิ, ภิกฺขเว, ธมฺเมหิ สมนฺนาคโต สาริปุตฺโต จิตฺตํ วเส วตฺเตติ, โน จ สาริปุตฺโต จิตฺตสฺส วเสน วตฺตติฯ กตเมหิ สตฺตหิ? อิธ, ภิกฺขเว, สาริปุตฺโต สมาธิกุสโล โหติ, สมาธิสฺส สมาปตฺติกุสโล, สมาธิสฺส ฐิติกุสโล, สมาธิสฺส วุฏฺฐานกุสโล, สมาธิสฺส กลฺยาณกุสโล, สมาธิสฺส โคจรกุสโล, สมาธิสฺส อภินีหารกุสโล โหติฯ อิเมหิ โข, ภิกฺขเว, สตฺตหิ ธมฺเมหิ สมนฺนาคโต สาริปุตฺโต จิตฺตํ วเส วตฺเตติ, โน จ สาริปุตฺโต จิตฺตสฺส วเสน วตฺตตี”ติฯ
“Bhikkhus, having seven qualities Sāriputta has mastered his mind and is not mastered by it. What seven? Sāriputta is skilled at samādhi, skilled in entering samādhi, skilled in remaining in samādhi, skilled in emerging from samādhi, skilled in gladdening the mind for samādhi, skilled in the meditation subjects for samādhi, and skilled in projecting the mind purified by samādhi. Having these seven qualities Sāriputta has mastered his mind and is not mastered by it.”
