Near Rājagaha, in the Bamboo Grove. Then Venerable Mahākassapa went up to the Buddha, bowed, and sat down to one side.
ဧကမန္တံ နိသိန္နံ ခေါ အာယသ္မန္တံ မဟာကဿပံ ဘဂဝါ ဧတဒဝေါစ: “ဩဝဒ, ကဿပ, ဘိက္ခူ; ကရောဟိ, ကဿပ, ဘိက္ခူနံ ဓမ္မိံ ကထံ၊ အဟံ ဝါ, ကဿပ, ဘိက္ခူ ဩဝဒေယျံ တွံ ဝါ; အဟံ ဝါ ဘိက္ခူနံ ဓမ္မိံ ကထံ ကရေယျံ တွံ ဝါ”တိ၊
The Buddha said to him, “Kassapa, advise the bhikkhus! Give them a Dhamma talk! Either you or I should advise the bhikkhus and give them a Dhamma talk.”
“ဒုဗ္ဗစာ ခေါ, ဘန္တေ, ဧတရဟိ ဘိက္ခူ, ဒေါဝစဿကရဏေဟိ ဓမ္မေဟိ သမန္နာဂတာ အက္ခမာ အပ္ပဒက္ခိဏဂ္ဂါဟိနော အနုသာသနိံ၊
“Sir, the bhikkhus these days are hard to admonish, having qualities that make them hard to admonish. They’re impatient, and don’t take instruction respectfully.
ယဿ ကဿစိ, ဘန္တေ, သဒ္ဓါ နတ္ထိ ကုသလေသု ဓမ္မေသု, ဟိရီ နတ္ထိ ကုသလေသု ဓမ္မေသု, ဩတ္တပ္ပံ နတ္ထိ ကုသလေသု ဓမ္မေသု, ဝီရိယံ နတ္ထိ ကုသလေသု ဓမ္မေသု, ပညာ နတ္ထိ ကုသလေသု ဓမ္မေသု, တဿ ယာ ရတ္တိ ဝါ ဒိဝသော ဝါ အာဂစ္ဆတိ, ဟာနိယေဝ ပါဋိကင်္ခါ ကုသလေသု ဓမ္မေသု, နော ဝုဒ္ဓိ၊
Sir, whoever has no faith, conscience, prudence, energy, and wisdom when it comes to skillful qualities can expect decline, not growth, in skillful qualities, whether by day or by night.
သေယျထာပိ, ဘန္တေ, ကာဠပက္ခေ စန္ဒဿ ယာ ရတ္တိ ဝါ ဒိဝသော ဝါ အာဂစ္ဆတိ, ဟာယတေဝ ဝဏ္ဏေန, ဟာယတိ မဏ္ဍလေန, ဟာယတိ အာဘာယ, ဟာယတိ အာရောဟပရိဏာဟေန၊
It’s like the moon in the waning fortnight. Whether by day or by night, its beauty, roundness, light, and diameter and circumference only decline.
ဧဝမေဝ ခေါ, ဘန္တေ, ယဿ ကဿစိ သဒ္ဓါ နတ္ထိ ကုသလေသု ဓမ္မေသု …ပေ… ဟိရီ နတ္ထိ … ဩတ္တပ္ပံ နတ္ထိ … ဝီရိယံ နတ္ထိ … ပညာ နတ္ထိ … ကုသလေသု ဓမ္မေသု တဿ ယာ ရတ္တိ ဝါ ဒိဝသော ဝါ အာဂစ္ဆတိ, ဟာနိယေဝ ပါဋိကင်္ခါ ကုသလေသု ဓမ္မေသု, နော ဝုဒ္ဓိ၊
In the same way, whoever has no faith, conscience, prudence, energy, and wisdom when it comes to skillful qualities can expect decline, not growth, in skillful qualities, whether by day or by night.
‘အဿဒ္ဓေါ ပုရိသပုဂ္ဂလော'တိ, ဘန္တေ, ပရိဟာနမေတံ; ‘အဟိရိကော ပုရိသပုဂ္ဂလော'တိ, ဘန္တေ, ပရိဟာနမေတံ; ‘အနောတ္တပ္ပီ ပုရိသပုဂ္ဂလော'တိ, ဘန္တေ, ပရိဟာနမေတံ; ‘ကုသီတော ပုရိသပုဂ္ဂလော'တိ, ဘန္တေ, ပရိဟာနမေတံ; ‘ဒုပ္ပညော ပုရိသပုဂ္ဂလော'တိ, ဘန္တေ, ပရိဟာနမေတံ; ‘ကောဓနော ပုရိသပုဂ္ဂလော'တိ, ဘန္တေ, ပရိဟာနမေတံ; ‘ဥပနာဟီ ပုရိသပုဂ္ဂလော'တိ, ဘန္တေ, ပရိဟာနမေတံ; ‘န သန္တိ ဘိက္ခူ ဩဝါဒကာ'တိ, ဘန္တေ, ပရိဟာနမေတံ၊
A faithless individual is in decline. An individual with no conscience is in decline. An imprudent individual is in decline. A lazy individual is in decline. A witless individual is in decline. An irritable individual is in decline. A hostile individual is in decline. When there are no bhikkhu advisers there is decline.
ယဿ ကဿစိ, ဘန္တေ, သဒ္ဓါ အတ္ထိ ကုသလေသု ဓမ္မေသု, ဟိရီ အတ္ထိ ကုသလေသု ဓမ္မေသု, ဩတ္တပ္ပံ အတ္ထိ ကုသလေသု ဓမ္မေသု, ဝီရိယံ အတ္ထိ ကုသလေသု ဓမ္မေသု, ပညာ အတ္ထိ ကုသလေသု ဓမ္မေသု, တဿ ယာ ရတ္တိ ဝါ ဒိဝသော ဝါ အာဂစ္ဆတိ, ဝုဒ္ဓိယေဝ ပါဋိကင်္ခါ ကုသလေသု ဓမ္မေသု, နော ပရိဟာနိ၊

A faithful individual doesn’t decline. An individual with a conscience doesn’t decline. A prudent individual doesn’t decline. An energetic individual doesn’t decline. A wise individual doesn’t decline. A loving individual doesn’t decline. A kind individual doesn’t decline. When there are bhikkhu advisers there is no decline.”
