2nd Thailand Tipitaka Chanting Ceremony, Bodhi Gaya, India

Between March 17 and 21, 2026, the second edition of the "Thailand Tipitaka Chanting Ceremony" took place under the Bodhi tree at the Mahabodhi complex in Bodhi Gaya.

The recitation of the Pali sutras was preceded by a spectacular procession attended by monks, nuns and lay devotees, volumes of the Pali Tipitaka canon being ceremoniously carried around the MahaBodhi temple, which marks the place where the Buddha, over 2,500 years ago, attained Liberation.

The procession included traditional dance performances performed by Thai dancers dressed in exotic costumes.

The recitation of the Pali sutras by approximately 40 Buddhist monks and hundreds of lay devotees from Thailand took place right under the sacred Bodhi tree, inside the Mahabodhi complex.
