“ตีณิมานิ, ภิกฺขเว, นิทานานิ กมฺมานํ สมุทยายฯ กตมานิ ตีณิ? โลโภ นิทานํ กมฺมานํ สมุทยาย, โทโส นิทานํ กมฺมานํ สมุทยาย, โมโห นิทานํ กมฺมานํ สมุทยายฯ ยํ, ภิกฺขเว, โลภปกตํ กมฺมํ โลภชํ โลภนิทานํ โลภสมุทยํ, ตํ กมฺมํ อกุสลํ ตํ กมฺมํ สาวชฺชํ ตํ กมฺมํ ทุกฺขวิปากํ, ตํ กมฺมํ กมฺมสมุทยาย สํวตฺตติ, น ตํ กมฺมํ กมฺมนิโรธาย สํวตฺตติฯ ยํ, ภิกฺขเว, โทสปกตํ กมฺมํ โทสชํ โทสนิทานํ โทสสมุทยํ, ตํ กมฺมํ อกุสลํ ตํ กมฺมํ สาวชฺชํ ตํ กมฺมํ ทุกฺขวิปากํ, ตํ กมฺมํ กมฺมสมุทยาย สํวตฺตติ, น ตํ กมฺมํ กมฺมนิโรธาย สํวตฺตติฯ ยํ, ภิกฺขเว, โมหปกตํ กมฺมํ โมหชํ โมหนิทานํ โมหสมุทยํ, ตํ กมฺมํ อกุสลํ ตํ กมฺมํ สาวชฺชํ ตํ กมฺมํ ทุกฺขวิปากํ, ตํ กมฺมํ กมฺมสมุทยาย สํวตฺตติ, น ตํ กมฺมํ กมฺมนิโรธาย สํวตฺตติฯ อิมานิ โข, ภิกฺขเว, ตีณิ นิทานานิ กมฺมานํ สมุทยายฯ
“Bhikkhus, there are these three sources that give rise to deeds. What three? Greed, hate, and delusion are sources that give rise to deeds. Any deed that emerges from greed, hate, or delusion—born, sourced, and originated from greed, hate, or delusion—is unskillful, blameworthy, results in suffering, and leads to the creation of more deeds, not their cessation. These are three sources that give rise to deeds.

There are these three sources that give rise to deeds. What three? Contentment, love, and understanding are sources that give rise to deeds. Any deed that emerges from contentment, love, or understanding—born, sourced, and originated from contentment, love, or understanding—is skillful, blameless, results in happiness, and leads to the cessation of more deeds, not their creation. These are three sources that give rise to deeds.”
