“อสปฺปุริสญฺจ โว, ภิกฺขเว, เทเสสฺสามิ, สปฺปุริสญฺจฯ ตํ สุณาถฯ
“Bhikkhus, I will teach you a bad person and a good person. Listen …
กตโม จ, ภิกฺขเว, อสปฺปุริโส? อิธ, ภิกฺขเว, เอกจฺโจ มิจฺฉาทิฏฺฐิโก โหติ, มิจฺฉาสงฺกปฺโป, มิจฺฉาวาโจ, มิจฺฉากมฺมนฺโต, มิจฺฉาอาชีโว, มิจฺฉาวายาโม, มิจฺฉาสติ, มิจฺฉาสมาธิ—อยํ วุจฺจติ, ภิกฺขเว, อสปฺปุริโสฯ
And what is a bad person? It’s someone who has wrong view, wrong thought, wrong speech, wrong action, wrong livelihood, wrong effort, wrong mindfulness, and wrong samādhi. This is called a bad person.
กตโม จ, ภิกฺขเว, สปฺปุริโส? อิธ, ภิกฺขเว, เอกจฺโจ สมฺมาทิฏฺฐิโก โหติ, สมฺมาสงฺกปฺโป, สมฺมาวาโจ, สมฺมากมฺมนฺโต, สมฺมาอาชีโว, สมฺมาวายาโม, สมฺมาสติ, สมฺมาสมาธิ—อยํ วุจฺจติ, ภิกฺขเว, สปฺปุริโส”ติฯ
And what is a good person? It’s someone who has right view, right thought, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right samādhi. This is called a good person.”
