The Wrong Way

สาวตฺถินิทานํฯ

At Sāvatthī.

“มิจฺฉตฺตญฺจ โว, ภิกฺขเว, เทเสสฺสามิ, สมฺมตฺตญฺจฯ ตํ สุณาถฯ

“Bhikkhus, I will teach you the wrong way and the right way. Listen …

กตมญฺจ, ภิกฺขเว, มิจฺฉตฺตํ? เสยฺยถิทํ—มิจฺฉาทิฏฺฐิ …เป… มิจฺฉาสมาธิฯ อิทํ วุจฺจติ, ภิกฺขเว, มิจฺฉตฺตํฯ

And what is the wrong way? It is wrong view, wrong thought, wrong speech, wrong action, wrong livelihood, wrong effort, wrong mindfulness, and wrong samādhi. This is called the wrong way.

กตมญฺจ, ภิกฺขเว, สมฺมตฺตํ? เสยฺยถิทํ—สมฺมาทิฏฺฐิ …เป… สมฺมาสมาธิฯ อิทํ วุจฺจติ, ภิกฺขเว, สมฺมตฺตนฺ”ติฯ

And what is the right way? It is right view, right thought, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right samādhi. This is called the right way.”
