Complete Understanding
“ចត្តារោមេ, ភិក្ខវេ, សតិបដ្ឋានា។ កតមេ ចត្តារោ? ឥធ, ភិក្ខវេ, ភិក្ខុ កាយេ កាយានុបស្សី វិហរតិ អាតាបី សម្បជានោ សតិមា, វិនេយ្យ លោកេ អភិជ្ឈាទោមនស្សំ។ តស្ស កាយេ កាយានុបស្សិនោ វិហរតោ កាយោ បរិញ្ញាតោ ហោតិ។ កាយស្ស បរិញ្ញាតត្តា អមតំ សច្ឆិកតំ ហោតិ។
“Bhikkhus, there are these four kinds of mindfulness meditation. What four? It’s when a bhikkhu meditates by watching, again and again, an aspect of the body—keen, aware, and mindful, rid of covetousness and displeasure for the world. As they do so they completely understand the body. When the body is completely understood they realize the deathless.
វេទនាសុ វេទនានុបស្សី វិហរតិ អាតាបី សម្បជានោ សតិមា, វិនេយ្យ លោកេ អភិជ្ឈាទោមនស្សំ។ តស្ស វេទនាសុ វេទនានុបស្សិនោ វិហរតោ វេទនា បរិញ្ញាតា ហោន្តិ។ វេទនានំ បរិញ្ញាតត្តា អមតំ សច្ឆិកតំ ហោតិ។
They meditate watching, again and again, an aspect of feelings—keen, aware, and mindful, rid of covetousness and displeasure for the world. As they do so they completely understand feelings. When feelings are completely understood they realize the deathless.
ចិត្តេ ចិត្តានុបស្សី វិហរតិ អាតាបី សម្បជានោ សតិមា, វិនេយ្យ លោកេ អភិជ្ឈាទោមនស្សំ។ តស្ស ចិត្តេ ចិត្តានុបស្សិនោ វិហរតោ ចិត្តំ បរិញ្ញាតំ ហោតិ។ ចិត្តស្ស បរិញ្ញាតត្តា អមតំ សច្ឆិកតំ ហោតិ។
They meditate watching, again and again, an aspect of the mind—keen, aware, and mindful, rid of covetousness and displeasure for the world. As they do so they completely understand the mind. When the mind is completely understood they realize the deathless.
ធម្មេសុ ធម្មានុបស្សី វិហរតិ អាតាបី សម្បជានោ សតិមា, វិនេយ្យ លោកេ អភិជ្ឈាទោមនស្សំ។ តស្ស ធម្មេសុ ធម្មានុបស្សិនោ វិហរតោ ធម្មា បរិញ្ញាតា ហោន្តិ។ ធម្មានំ បរិញ្ញាតត្តា អមតំ សច្ឆិកតំ ហោតី”តិ។
They meditate watching, again and again, an aspect of principles—keen, aware, and mindful, rid of covetousness and displeasure for the world. As they do so they completely understand principles. When principles are completely understood they realize the deathless.”
