Ten Regular Reflections for a Renunciate
“ဒသယိမေ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဓမ္မာ ပဗ္ဗဇိတေန အဘိဏှံ ပစ္စဝေက္ခိတဗ္ဗာ၊ ကတမေ ဒသ?
“Bhikkhus, one who has gone forth should often review these ten things. What ten?
‘ဝေဝဏ္ဏိယမှိ အဇ္ဈုပဂတော'တိ ပဗ္ဗဇိတေန အဘိဏှံ ပစ္စဝေက္ခိတဗ္ဗံ၊
One who has gone forth should often review this: ‘I have secured freedom from class.’
‘ပရပဋိဗဒ္ဓါ မေ ဇီဝိကာ'တိ ပဗ္ဗဇိတေန အဘိဏှံ ပစ္စဝေက္ခိတဗ္ဗံ၊
‘My livelihood is tied up with others.’
‘အညော မေ အာကပ္ပေါ ကရဏီယော'တိ ပဗ္ဗဇိတေန အဘိဏှံ ပစ္စဝေက္ခိတဗ္ဗံ၊
‘My behavior should be different.’
‘ကစ္စိ နု ခေါ မေ အတ္တာ သီလတော န ဥပဝဒတီ'တိ ပဗ္ဗဇိတေန အဘိဏှံ ပစ္စဝေက္ခိတဗ္ဗံ၊
‘I hope there’s no reason to blame myself when it comes to ethical conduct?’
‘ကစ္စိ နု ခေါ မံ အနုဝိစ္စ ဝိညူ သဗြဟ္မစာရီ သီလတော န ဥပဝဒန္တီ'တိ ပဗ္ဗဇိတေန အဘိဏှံ ပစ္စဝေက္ခိတဗ္ဗံ၊
‘I hope that, after examination, sensible spiritual companions don’t reproach any aspect of my ethics?’
‘သဗ္ဗေဟိ မေ ပိယေဟိ မနာပေဟိ နာနာဘာဝေါ ဝိနာဘာဝေါ'တိ ပဗ္ဗဇိတေန အဘိဏှံ ပစ္စဝေက္ခိတဗ္ဗံ၊
‘I must be parted and separated from all I hold dear and beloved.’
‘ကမ္မဿကောမှိ ကမ္မဒါယာဒေါ ကမ္မယောနိ ကမ္မဗန္ဓု ကမ္မပဋိသရဏော,
‘I am the owner of my deeds and heir to my deeds. Deeds are my womb, my relative, and my refuge.
ယံ ကမ္မံ ကရိဿာမိ ကလျာဏံ ဝါ ပါပကံ ဝါ တဿ ဒါယာဒေါ ဘဝိဿာမီ'တိ ပဗ္ဗဇိတေန အဘိဏှံ ပစ္စဝေက္ခိတဗ္ဗံ၊
I shall be the heir of whatever deeds I do, whether good or bad.’
‘ကထံဘူတဿ မေ ရတ္တိန္ဒိဝါ ဝီတိဝတ္တန္တီ'တိ ပဗ္ဗဇိတေန အဘိဏှံ ပစ္စဝေက္ခိတဗ္ဗံ၊
‘As the days and nights flit by, what sort of person am I becoming?’
‘ကစ္စိ နု ခေါ အဟံ သုညာဂါရေ အဘိရမာမီ'တိ ပဗ္ဗဇိတေန အဘိဏှံ ပစ္စဝေက္ခိတဗ္ဗံ၊
‘Do I love to stay in empty huts?’
‘အတ္ထိ နု ခေါ မေ ဥတ္တရိ မနုဿဓမ္မော အလမရိယဉာဏဒဿနဝိသေသော အဓိဂတော, ယေနာဟံ ပစ္ဆိမေ ကာလေ သဗြဟ္မစာရီဟိ ပုဋ္ဌော န မင်္ကု ဘဝိဿာမီ'တိ ပဗ္ဗဇိတေန အဘိဏှံ ပစ္စဝေက္ခိတဗ္ဗံ၊
‘Do I have any superhuman distinctions in knowledge and vision worthy of the noble ones, so that when my spiritual companions question me on my deathbed I will not be embarrassed?’
ဣမေ ခေါ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဒသ ဓမ္မာ ပဗ္ဗဇိတေန အဘိဏှံ ပစ္စဝေက္ခိတဗ္ဗာ”တိ၊
One who has gone forth should often review these ten things.”
