With Queen Mallikā
សាវត្ថិនិទានំ។
At Sāvatthī.
តេន ខោ បន សមយេន រាជា បសេនទិ កោសលោ មល្លិកាយ ទេវិយា សទ្ធិំ ឧបរិបាសាទវរគតោ ហោតិ។
Now at that time King Pasenadi of Kosala was upstairs in the royal longhouse together with Queen Mallikā.
អថ ខោ រាជា បសេនទិ កោសលោ មល្លិកំ ទេវិំ ឯតទវោច: “អត្ថិ នុ ខោ តេ, មល្លិកេ, កោចញ្ញោ អត្តនា បិយតរោ”តិ?
Then the king said to the queen, “Mallikā, is there anyone more dear to you than yourself?”
“នត្ថិ ខោ មេ, មហារាជ, កោចញ្ញោ អត្តនា បិយតរោ។ តុយ្ហំ បន, មហារាជ, អត្ថញ្ញោ កោចិ អត្តនា បិយតរោ”តិ?
“No, great king, there isn’t. But is there anyone more dear to you than yourself?”
“មយ្ហម្បិ ខោ, មល្លិកេ, នត្ថញ្ញោ កោចិ អត្តនា បិយតរោ”តិ។
“For me also, Mallikā, there’s no-one.”
អថ ខោ រាជា បសេនទិ កោសលោ បាសាទា ឱរោហិត្វា យេន ភគវា តេនុបសង្កមិ; ឧបសង្កមិត្វា ភគវន្តំ អភិវាទេត្វា ឯកមន្តំ និសីទិ។ ឯកមន្តំ និសិន្នោ ខោ រាជា បសេនទិ កោសលោ ភគវន្តំ ឯតទវោច: “ឥធាហំ, ភន្តេ, មល្លិកាយ ទេវិយា សទ្ធិំ ឧបរិបាសាទវរគតោ មល្លិកំ ទេវិំ ឯតទវោចំ: ‘អត្ថិ នុ ខោ តេ, មល្លិកេ, កោចញ្ញោ អត្តនា បិយតរោៜតិ? ឯវំ វុត្តេ, ភន្តេ, មល្លិកា ទេវី មំ ឯតទវោច: ‘នត្ថិ ខោ មេ, មហារាជ, កោចញ្ញោ អត្តនា បិយតរោ។ តុយ្ហំ បន, មហារាជ, អត្ថញ្ញោ កោចិ អត្តនា បិយតរោៜតិ? ឯវំ វុត្តាហំ, ភន្តេ, មល្លិកំ ទេវិំ ឯតទវោចំ: ‘មយ្ហម្បិ ខោ, មល្លិកេ, នត្ថញ្ញោ កោចិ អត្តនា បិយតរោៜ”តិ។
Then King Pasenadi of Kosala came downstairs from the stilt longhouse, went to the Buddha, bowed, sat down to one side, and told him what had happened.
អថ ខោ ភគវា ឯតមត្ថំ វិទិត្វា តាយំ វេលាយំ ឥមំ គាថំ អភាសិ:
Then, understanding this matter, on that occasion the Buddha recited this verse:
“សព្ពា ទិសា អនុបរិគម្ម ចេតសា, នេវជ្ឈគា បិយតរមត្តនា ក្វចិ; ឯវំ បិយោ បុថុ អត្តា បរេសំ, តស្មា ន ហិំសេ បរមត្តកាមោ”តិ។
“Having explored every quarter with the mind, one finds no-one dearer than oneself. Likewise for others, each holds themselves dear; so one who loves themselves would harm no other.”
