“ตีณิมานิ, ภิกฺขเว, มลานิฯ กตมานิ ตีณิ? ราโค มลํ, โทโส มลํ, โมโห มลํ—อิมานิ โข, ภิกฺขเว, ตีณิ มลานิฯ
“Bhikkhus, there are these three stains. What three? Greed, hate, and delusion. These are the three stains.
อิเมสํ โข, ภิกฺขเว, ติณฺณนฺนํ มลานํ อภิญฺญาย ปริญฺญาย ปริกฺขยาย ปหานาย …เป… อยํ อริโย อฏฺฐงฺคิโก มคฺโค ภาเวตพฺโพ”ติฯ
The noble eightfold path should be developed for the direct knowledge, complete understanding, finishing, and giving up of these three stains.”
